Okay, I know I should stick to fluid flow vs electron flow, but this just doesn't look right to me
![tpswires](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/292655.jpg) After struggling with the intake manifold bolts, thanks to AL for the providing the wrench and to Tnm2, whose post saved me from doing awful things to the bike http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=3842&post=810112#POST810112 So anyways I finally get the intake off and looking it over I see the green and black wires going into the TPS are bare for about a 1/2 in. I can't believe this is a good thing. Is that how its supposed to be? Should I tape the ends up with good old electrical tape? Thanks Matt |

Okay I didn't think much about the title of this section, so if you're wondering. In my Beer addled brain I saw the title as "I know M(echanical) E(gineers) should stay away from wires....." Oh well, maybe people will look just cause of the screwy title (Message edited by mbsween on July 15, 2007) |

Tape them up. I suggest wrapping each wire with the smallest ziptie you can find also after taping. I've seen old tape come loose and start flapping if not ziptied. KK |

Hey Matt, Isn't that a fairly short cable that connects to the FI? I'd think folks would have then sitting around off broken FIs or whatever. Maybe ask around on parts wanted. I'll go check my box of parts... DAve |

Dave, I haven't tried to take the TPS apart to see if the wries can be moved around. How's it going, looks like you've moved on since I last saw you at Deal's Gap way back in 02. How's the Uly? One of these days I'll get around to a new one, maybe an 1125R , pending a test ride and a little time to see what owners think. Thanks for taking a look Matt |

I'm really happy with the Uly Matt -- I was wrestling a new tire on the back wheel yesterday but it beat me down. (I've changed them before but this one kicked my ass) I'm 5 minutes from Barbers if you ever get down to Birmingham. DAve |

Maybe try a wrap with tape and then shrink wrap it to keep moisture out. And if that does not work then a new harness. Keep the rubber side down. |

You can paint it with liquid electrical tape first (comes in a little can). Give it a few coats letting it dry in between, and that will give you a good moisture seal. Then just get a good mechanical attachment so the wires don't break or your new insulation does not wear off again. I have had good luck with that liquid electrical tape, then normal electrical tape, then a cable tie to bind it all together. Strategic use of hot melt glue also has worked if the temperatures don't get that high. It makes a nice potting compound. |

Reep Thanks I've always enjoyed "Potting" things Dave, Have a Q into Andy, IIRC the part is somewhere in the 50 - 75 range I think its out of a ford mustang, I wonder if there is a direct fit from a car part. Matt |
