I have a couple of questions that I need expert advise on and this seemed like the place. I owned a '97 Cyclone that I bought new. For various reasons like tons of recalls and poor service at the dealer, I sold it. I have been through several liter bikes and was thinking about buying a sporty but I just cannot see spending that much money when the Buells outperform them in every way. Currently I ride a 250R ninja that I bought for the mileage-65mpg. The way I am trying to justify buying another Buell to the wife is the mpg. If I remember right the Cyclone got around 55 mpg but had tons of torque which is what I miss now. My question is do the injected bikes get that kind of mileage. I like the simplicity of carbs but there is enough data and tuning tools available now to work with FI. Also I have been seeing S3T's for sale around 3K in Texas. Is this a bargain or what? These bikes have dropped in value so much I don't see how you can go wrong. Am I missing something? BTW I still stick my right knee out when I ride! Bill |

My X1 gets low 50's usually. The newer XB computers are better and my friend's XB12 always gets better mileage than mine when we are riding together. Not like twice as much but better like upper 50's. My mods: forcewinder, loud pipe, race ECU His : modded airbox, gutted stock muffler, stock ECU |

My '99 S3 varies quite a bit on the mpg. At 55 on a long ride it will get 65mpg. My normal commute @ 70+, it will get 50mpg. While riding in the mountains of Colorado I have gotten as much as 75mpg. Most of the time it is 53mpg. |

My '99 Lightning stays in the low 50's neighborhood. I haven't had an ounce of trouble out of the FI and I'm the original owner. I have trouble staying out of it no matter where I'm riding. That's one big jump from a 250. |
