When I bought my '07, I ordered a smoked ZG wind screen and a set of pins to mount the windscreen. I had looked at the stock set-up and felt it would be easiest, and with the least chance of damage of trying to remove the mounted pins.
The windscreen came in, and the "other parts" came in. Of course the "other parts" are the WRONG pieces, but this was not found out until I was picking things up.
I want to use the ZG for a weekend trip THIS weekend -- any tips on how to remove the push pins from the stock windscreen WITHOUT screwing things up ? The service manual does not divulge any secrets.

Use a small flat tip screw driver to push them out. I just took mine off of my stock windscreen to paint it and they came out with some effort.

You are using the screwdriver to work out the lip at the base from the inside of the windshield?

Yep, once you get it started they pop right out.

Thanks Wolfridgerider,
I couldn't chance breaking off pins, and having NO windscreen, too much highway miles to get where I am going this weekend.

Yeah, if i recall, i used a flathead also. Wasn't too worried about scratching the stock screen, only because i knew I would probably never use it again anyway. Didn't even scratch it up after the fact.

My problem was with the ZG screen, and the Buell recall mounting bolts not seating in the screen properly. The recall bolts do not sit flush on the screen, they're snug, but raised probably an 1/8". I think i need to drill/or dremel the ZG screen bolt holes for the recall bolts to seat properly. Haven't gotten around to it yet, and don't really care too much either. <wondering>
