Walmart Bead seat cover at about $8.80 plus tax. In the Automotive department. Comes in a plastic bag. Modified it with a pair of scissors and Yankee ingenuity. Had enough leftover to make another for the Sportster. I'll be checking out it's long term comfort on the 515 mile ride to Buell Homecoming. If it doesn't do the trick then I'm only out about $9 and some time. The leftover beads which there are quite few will be good ammo for my wrist-rocket slingshot. Here's some photos.

Did it come with the optional taxi driver? ;)

Looks good!

Come to think of it, it was made in Pakistan. Good call.
Here is exactly what the bead seat originally looked like from Walmart.

I tried the K-Mart bead thing about three years ago. The $10 item lasted about a week, then split apart.

I now have this one: www.beadrider.com/

It's made for the bike and is constructed out of heavy duty material.

I wish you guys the best of luck on your purchases.

Bob

Adamd,
More like, "Sore butts feel alike". How well does that work for you. Does it make a long haul difference? Nice photo.

Bienhoabob,
I'll spray paint it black so it soaks up more heat like the beadrider version. $44 vs less than $10. I'll take my chances. No offense, but just because somebody else sells it for 4 times as much doesn't make it better. Anyway, all a person has to do is repair or even reinforce it with heavy strength fishing line. Seems pretty well constructed to me though.

Yeah, but you ride more in one weekend than most Buell riders put on their bikes in a year!

I just installed the expensive Bead Rider beads on my bike today in preparation for a SS1000 ride this Friday. I hope they are worth the money and the teasing. My wife is already making fun of them.

Electroglider_1997,

I am going over to the dark side with a bead seat "cushion". Any tips as to how you kept it from disintegrating when you cut off the section you needed? Was there any problem with losing beads along the cut of the section you wanted to use? Any tips for stabilizing the beads along the cut line?

Is that two layers of beads you are using so that you trap the bungee cord in the rear? Otherwise, I can't see how it holds the beads. It looks like it runs under the beads.

Finally, what do you think of it so far? Are they still on your bikes?
