I hope Buell doesn't release anything new for several years. I can't afford a new bike right now and I don't want mine to be outdated : ) - sorry guys!

Wow. Looks like a computer generated pic to me. Where is the real photo of the real bike?

Bet I know more than you.

I am behind you Court, I know for a fact something big is in the works. More than likely it won't be this year since the dirt bikes are coming along, and by the way isn't the dirt more soft than pavement? The XB's fair well regarding crashed on the street. I know this for a fact also having raced motocross for a few years.

I say Buell will have something ground-breaking in the next 3 years.

Write it down

Don't much matter to me anyway.
I'm done "investing" in my buell.
This time next year I'll hopefully be on a 1098s.

My opinion (Based on no inside info whatsoever) is that Buell will stay the course. I doubt they will unveil a liquid cooled motor just yet.

Anybody notice the good review on the TT in the same mag, by the "Buell haters"?

Well, HD has been selling the same kind of bikes with the same kind of technology because they can! That's what their market wants and likes! HD fans don't really like change or new technology. That's why the V-Rod costs less than a loaded HD cruiser even though the technology is higher. They don't sell as well as their other bikes. As for them being able to produce high tech equipment, that is another story. They have the funds and the ability to pay for R and D because they make a ton of cash selling the same old, same old, for 16-25 grand per bike. They could build something to compete with the repli-racers, the question is, will they? I'll bet they keep the XB line as the "Street Fighter" line and if they were to develop a new fast bike, it would be a much higher priced bike in the Superbike category. I would guess around 15 or 16 thousand to start. It would have to be some serious shiznit though to compete against any of the other, established Superbikes. Just pure speculation!

well lets see...they made the XBRR to keep up with the 600 supersports ..they wanted 30.000 $$$$ for that...add liquid cooling and some updated tech and ur looking at the american , ducati/aprilla/,benelli/,MVagusta/

While we're speculating: anybody here seen the KTM RC8 they have been saying will hit the market soon? Liquid cooled V-twin. I think its the same as in the SuperDuke.

I don't know that I would compare more horsepower in a Buell against a Ducati.

That's kind of like saying that if you want a bigger engine in your Taurus look at the cost of a Ferrari. .... yes but if u want ur taurus to run like a ferrari ur gonna pay through the nose for it...the S.H.O. was a bit more spendy than the normal tdog....and nowhere near the performance of a ferarri....and yes i have priced a ducati lately i dunno where ur buyin urs but they still cost a pretty penny around these parts...more $$$$ than a gixxer and a zx10 and in order for a motorcycle company to leap from the back of the pack to being a front runner....ya dont think thats going to cost some $$$$..all i said was it seems like it would cost a lot more for us to see a huge hp increase and that other small bike makers charge an arm and a nut for anything that can keep up with the new liter class monsters.

I think the bike world has waited long enough, and shown great patience watching Buell build a solid reputation around quirky designs and seemingly brave engineering prowess with motorcycles.

Surely another five years is unacceptable to most current Buell owners to await the next Buell revolution? 5 years from now, I'll be 51 and more interested in tuning my impending zimmer frame.

Rocket.

"4cammer, the 675 does not get eaten alive by 600 supersport japs. It handles like crazy and has just as much power."

Actually, I was referring to the Triumph TT600/Daytona 600.

I for one have never been on a 180hp bike. I think I'd sure as heck like to have one, even if I didn't use all of it much. Evidently I'm not alone since the Japanese sell the hell out of them.

I am enjoying riding my Buell, but I bought it as a trainer. It's served its purpose well thus far. I keep a flask of buellaide in my desk just like the rest of you and am proud of my ride, but face it; All this talk about superior handling makes me realize I definitely need to go ride a jap bike or two to see if I really did buy a marvel machine. I watch motogp racing occasionally and it looks to me like those jap bikes corner pretty darn well.

Don't flame me now guys. I'm just being honest with myself here. I've ridden what I've got to redline in every gear and always come up wanting. I've run the chicken strips off of five sets of tires now and still get beat by every 600 and larger displacement sportbike rider I've ever ridden with. The only guy I've ever beaten to the finish line in a road race is another Buell. I love my bike, but if I'm going to ride a sportbike, I want a competitive bike. That's just my personality. Don't get mad. I'm just being honest here. You guys know I normally shy away from saying anything controversial in an effort to keep the peace, but I think it's about time somebody talked some common sense here.

Bottom line - unless Buell can produce a bike competitive with the liter class, I'll be buying a GSXR for my next bike. I'd love to go for the 1098s, but why when Suzuki's got loads of power and performance for a reasonable price.

Actually, I take that back. I hope Buell comes through so I can continue to ride a unique bike, but also scratch that power itch I've got. The Gixxer would be a 2nd choice. Come on Erik and Co.!

I can't agree with you more. I love my Buell, but unless Buell comes out with something new and competitive I might have to put an R1 in the garage.

as far as dirt bikes go its not a bad lookin bike..could use some black wheels and a black frame...i think at this point buell has a better chance of making a competetive dirt bike than a superbike....

?I watch motogp racing occasionally and it looks to me like those jap bikes corner pretty darn well."

Moto GP? Are you serious? Not to flame you, but you were kinda asking for it. Moto GP bikes are specially made racing machines akin to a Formula One race car. None of those bikes are based off of street bikes. There are a couple, well, mainly one, that is available in a street version (the Ducati Desmosedici RR, yours for only $60,000). Those bikes better handle well for the 6 figures they cost to build. We're talking upwards of 220+ horsepower and nearly 20,000 rpms from anything from an inline triple, V-4, Inline 4, V-5, to a V-6.

Hey, more power too you if your main concern about a bike is having the most popular, most powerful, etc. I, for one, want more than that after 20 years of riding motorcycles. I want a jack-of-all-trades bike that does a bunch of things well. I want uniqueness, soul, excellent handling, adequate power, low weight, etc. Hey, if you want to run as hard as you say, maybe a track bike would be best for you. A Gixxer would be a better choice. Fast as hell? Yep. Powerful? Yep. Handle like a race bike? Yep. Does 180mph? Yep. Look just like everyone elses? Yep. Sound just like every other I4? Yep. Boring!

You said you got the Buell as a starter bike? My starter bike was a CBR 600. I've had two more, an R6, and a Gixxer 750. I've been on bikes (off road included) for 20+ years and I now have an XB. Starter bike? Hardly. At this point in my life and riding stage, I don't care about bragging rights. I want a fun bike that stands out in a sea of blue and white plastics and appreciate motorcycles like I do fine art. They are mechanical sculptures of beauty and sound. The XB is a fine specimen indeed.

How's that for a flame job? That's like a 3 alarm blaze man!

took ktm a looong time to come into its own...hopefuly buell will have the same persistance and staying power....rome wasnt built in a day as gma used ta say....neither was a unique american sport bike....personaly i thought the tubers were cool but i never would have bought one...the XB caught my interest enough to spend my hard earned money on.....cant wait to see what the next nifty thing will be..i love these threads : D .

I would love to see Buell create something like the Motoczysz.
http://www.motoczysz.com/main.php?area=home

I personally wouldn't buy one, but it certainly would bring a spotlight to the brand.

Now for myself I have my eye on a BMW k1200GT. Anyone want to "loan" me $20k?

None of those bikes are based off of street bikes.

But one could not argue the point the opposite way around.

Especially so the CBR600 and Fireblade's of the last couple of years. The R1 too. They bare lots of development from the Moto GP racers.

Take a look at an RCV211 close up and in detail. Look at the castings, welding, plastic component's etc etc etc. You might be shocked at how much an RCV211 looks like it was made the same way a production sports bike is. I'd even wager if you put lights and road tyres on one, and you pulled up at a traffic light, most bikers at first glance wouldn't recognise an RCV211 as a prototype GP bike.

What this has to do with Buells..................I forgot now

If a gp bike pulled next to me at a stoplight, idling at 3000 rpm, I think I'd notice.

Have they released the Ducati gp replica yet? I can't wait to see one.

Cgocifer: You're actually a LITTLE bit off on the price of a MotoGP bike. More like SEVEN figures (and that doesn't include the decimal point either). ;)

The street legal Desmosedici has an MSRP of $65,000US, but they're already sold out. I saw it at the Javits show this past January. Surprisingly small... but I guess the only reason it looked big in the photos is that Loris Capirossi is a rather short gentleman himself.

Personally, I don't know why Ducati doesn't campaign the bike in AMA Superbike. As far as I'm concerned its a much more legitimate "Production Motorcycle" than the Harley VR1000 was. At least it's available for street use in the United States! I never understood how the VR1000 qualified for AMA Superbike other than "you can buy whatever judgement you want if you have enough money."
