Looks like we're out of business this weekend. Even if it doesn't rain at all tomorrow, there will still be tons of water on the road. And the extended forecast for next weekend isn't looking all that great either.

If only you guys would have blown off Mother's Day and come out with Greg & me-- now THAT was some nice weather.

Prove me wrong then.....I'm all ears....

To ME, Action speaks louder than words. There (BMC) actions on this speak for themselves........Why they would not upgrade/fix the lighting problem I do not know...maybe COST Vs. Actual complaints/lawsuits that can be filed AND proved lighting was the culprit? Got's me? I do not have the answer to that one....I do know I waited long enough and have seen very little on this to fix the problem.

What I do see....03,04,05,06,07....5 years of bad lighting,(complaints from as far back as 04 can be found in the KV) Nothing done to rectify this problem EXCEPT asking a couple Buell owners to send there's in and receive new ones in return, ONLY to get the same POOR Product.

That is IF You were able to get your rejects in BEFORE they have enough to do there testing.

I know of one Badweb'r That was REFUSED new ones AFTER receiving the letter to replace his and return the old.

Not very Good ethics in my book...

But hey, I still Love my Buell Anyways!!!

Would I get another If they didn't fix it? YUP
Would I change there flaws? BET YER ASh I would.

How much do you know about certifying headlights for the US D.O.T.? What has to be done, what tests have to be performed, what conditions have to be met? How many months does it take to sort out all the red tape? Once you get that figured out, do all of it over for the German T.U.V. Then there's Japan, Italy, Great Britain, Australia, etc., etc., etc.
I once shipped a Sportster to Australia, so I'd have it to ride around on while I was there. To register it was a nightmare, and required more B.S. than it was worth. It's a lot worse for a manufacturer.
If the headlight on your Buell is getting dim, then change it out. It's not life threatening.
You want proof that Buell will go out of their way for their customers? How about in 1999 at Homecoming, they airfreighted a shipment of Showa shocks from Japan, so that they could be put on bikes at the rally so the owners could take in the Track School at Blackhawk Farms Raceway? Then, when the shocks got held up in Customs, they let everyone use the Factory Fleet of Demo bikes.
Or maybe when the early Tuber brake rotors would rattle and sound like they were about to fall apart, the factory redesigned the rotors, then sold them for $105.00 each.
There are more incidents that I could point out, but it sounds like you'd rather believe that you KNOW what should be done, and you won't let facts get in your way.
It's kind of a shame you've never had to deal with some of the other Manufacturers Customer Service. You'd really have a ball trying to get BMW, for instance, to own up to any defects in their products. Or maybe you would have favorable things to say about Suzuki's fine treatment of customers with warranty issues.
I've only been riding Buells for nine years, but they've done the Right Thing more times in those nine years than All the other manufacturers combined in the previous thirty years.

Crusty, will you marry me?

I love this bike. Erik is a good 'merican, I am a good 'merican, and my lights are good 'nuff to get me home in a NE downpour. Greatest bike ever.

So your light suck... OK.

If you can find another bike that'll make you a better rider, buy it. Who else does mass centralization...

I'm waiting...

Find me a bike no owner wants to b!tch about and I'll buy it...

Considering the dollars, of course.
Oh yeah-- so as I'm looking out of the garage right now watching my cage get covered in rain, I'm guessing there's no ride tomorrow.

Fvck sh!t D4mn.

See you ladies next Sunday.

How many months does it take to sort out all the red tape? Once you get that figured out, do all of it over for the German T.U.V. Then there's Japan, Italy, Great Britain, Australia, etc., etc., etc.Now that is just answering a question w/ a question silly..I do know if you buy from a quality manufacturer like HELLA, PIAA etc. etc. AND the light's ARE D.O.T approved as they went through all that testing already, it is a fairly easy fix...Shurely could be done in a 5 year period
I once shipped a Sportster to Australia, so I'd have it to ride around on while I was there. To register it was a nightmare, and required more B.S. than it was worth. It's a lot worse for a manufacturer. }Umm..Okay?? where ya going with this??
If the headlight on your Buell is getting dim, then change it out. It's not life threatening. }I am changing it,Remember.. I said it was a safety issue...I never said it was life threatening. lets not twist more words here
You want proof that Buell will go out of their way for their customers? How about in 1999 at Homecoming, they airfreighted a shipment of Showa shocks from Japan, so that they could be put on bikes at the rally so the owners could take in the Track School at Blackhawk Farms Raceway?}If the shocks were that bad they should have changed them AND all the others not just the ones at the function. Was this a TRACK REQUIREMENT?..That was 8 years ago, I am talking about what they do right now! or atleast the last 5 years.. Then, when the shocks got held up in Customs, they let everyone use the Factory Fleet of Demo bikes.}That's cool they let you use them...But again if the original bikes were that bad they really should have done that at one of THERE functions...Falls under "safety" issues on the track..Could also have been some bad press if they didn't do that and someone got hurt..
Or maybe when the early Tuber brake rotors would rattle and sound like they were about to fall apart, the factory redesigned the rotors, then sold them for $105.00 each.}I guess that is a good deal?..}}
There are more incidents that I could point out, hopefully sooner than 1999} but it sounds like you'd rather believe that you KNOW what should be done, and you won't let facts get in your way.}Now your just pulling crap out your azz, you do not know me or what I think
It's kind of a shame you've never had to deal with some of the other Manufacturers Customer Service.}How do you know what I have delt with??? Still digging here! You'd really have a ball trying to get BMW, for instance, to own up to any defects in their products. Or maybe you would have favorable things to say about Suzuki's fine treatment of customers with warranty issues. }I don't ride them bikes..I ride a Buell}
I've only been riding Buells for nine years, but they've done the Right Thing more times in those nine years than All the other manufacturers combined in the previous thirty years.}}Sounds like a high number, You have these statistics? sounds like you are digging again

Sorry if I struck a nerve here crusty,That was not my intention, Not looking for a pissing match here.

I just call it like I see it...

Maybe we can do a pissing match over a beer though!!!........

Crusty, will you marry me?

HEY!! He Is married...to a Guzzi rider. And thanks Scott,i'm up to episode 5 and they seem hopeless.

Tuber brake rotors would rattle and sound like they were about to fall apart, the factory redesigned the rotors, then sold them for $105.00 each.

I got one of those, but my dealer gouged me,i paid more than $105.

On a related note,by beloved Ducati brand was plagued with the chrome facing flaking off of the (mostly) opening rocker arms.If neglected too long it could ruin cams (at over $1700/set).This went on from around 1996 through 2001.The original part price for the rockers was over $140 ea. They never officially accepted that THEIR original plating vendor had poor quality control but, reduced the part price to $45. ea. An acceptable solution THERE as Buell should do here.

I did an inspection on the XB the other day before all the rain hit...and it's looking like I'm getting close to needing new brake pads, front and back...

Any suggestions for pads better than stock parts or is that about as good as they get? Keep in mind...I'm not going to be running at a track any time soon.

I have Lyndal pads and like them a lot. Run them front and rear. Got them from Al @ American Sportbike.

MY front use to pulsate from the buildup on the rotor, They look good as new now, no pulsing/build up.

Real good feel in the lever also.

I hear the EBC pads are good also. I may even try them next to see.

Hope this helps some...

I just got my second set of EBC pads. I like them alot. No pulsing or buildup with these, and they give very consistent breaking performance.

It was nice riding with you this afternoon Nate. You've got some fine roads out there in Dartmouth.Funny,i thought it was just a stereotype about Jap bikes. Then those two guys' pull up to the Dunkin Donuts and go on about how fast their bikes' top speed was. Then we tell them about twisties and they reel about how scary their experience has been with them twisties. My image of them is blown...Let's do it again

Thursday PM would be perfect...I could really use it...but alas...I have a meeting at the police station with the Grafton Traffic Safety Commitee. I'm trying to get approval to install a mirror on Town property opposite my driveway so I don't get killed...

Unless the bike show runs late...what is the destination and times??? Maybe I can make the tail end...

Here is the link to the bike show:

http://www.rendezvousapparel.com/flyer

Thursday is going to be nice so I would expect a good turnout.

Easy to get to, When on 146 take the first exit when you enter MA. It is the exit with the McDonalds. Take a left off the exit. It is 1/2 mile down on the right. Runs from 6-9 P.M.

Mostly "Typical Harley's" there, sometimes a couple cool choppers, sport bikes, etc. etc.

They have a DJ and give away stuff, Trophy's, Leather goods, Raffles etc.

I usually stop in check it out, Go ride a while and return to see If anything "cool" has showed up.
