From Glendale HD/Buell today:

Come Join Us/Buell Track Day/Monday/March 19
Harley-Davidson/Buell of Glendale invites you to join us for a track-day on the Streets of Willow Springs on Monday, March 19th. We will be joining our friends at Hypercycle for a day of riding, instruction, education and some friendly competition on one of southern California's best tracks. With over 15 turns in just over 2 miles of looping asphalt, the Streets of Willow Springs has a little bit of everything from sweepers, chicanes and even a banked 180 degree turn.

If you have never participated in a "track day" before, the first thing you should know is this is not a race. The day is an opportunity for you to enhance your skill level in a safe, predictable and fun environment. You will learn more about you and your motorcycle in this one day than in months or even years of riding on the street.

Requirements: A full face helmet
Full finger gloves
Leather or Gortex pants and jacket
Boots (over the ankle)
Good tires
All lights/turn signals must be taped (this an be done at the track)

In order for your track experience to be as safe and enjoyable as possible, we recommend that you replace you tires and brake pads if they have not been changed lately. You will be using them both a lot! Our parts experts can walk you through the many tire options we have available. Don't wait for the last minute, call us for an appointment today at 818 246-5618, ext 193.

Also we will be filming a Buell documentary that day, depicting the fun, action and camaraderie that is involved with the Buell lifestyle. We'd love to have you there and be a part.

Depending on the number of confirmed attendees, the price will be no more than $99.00 per person, or less. Please RSVP to Mario at 818 246-5618 ext 109 for this event as soon as possible. All payments will be made at the track.

Tell Dustbin (Dustin) and Stevey that Slaughter says HI.

We're staying within drinking range of home. Partying at Carlos' place here in town. Superbike (Go Scott Jensen!), The 200 (GO WALT!) and MotoGP - (too bad Nicky rides a Honda)

Pancake breakfast for a dozen of us... we'll be watching!

Alrighty Steve, I got my new Pilot Powers 2ct's put on today, plus axle sliders and a few other nick knacks from Al @ American Sport Bike, so I'll be ready for Monday's track day at the Streets of Willow. We'll see if I can get that knee down.

Way cool Brett!

We'll see you on Monday!

By the way, you might bring some drinking water - just in case.

We're going to have some support crew available to make runs into town for supplies and pump gas (they only have race gas available at the track and CHEAP race gas is $7!)

They usually have enough water and gatorade to last the day but you'd be surprised at how much water you'll sweat out so be ready.

Yeah....I know its late but consider THIS.....Saturday night is St.Patricks Day....I see a thousand Buellers rolling out of the Pub in the wee hours.....Hangovers in the am don't make for early risers nor "High Riding Attention Levels" thusly a late start is safer for all concerned.

My plan has us proceeding up 405 , off at the "90" , past Bartels to pick up Scott Page and roll up PCH to my favorite Malibu Canyon road.....Latigo Canyon..!!!! The "DRAGON" of the West.....To Kanaan Dune to the Rock Store......Just in time to show off our Buells to Jay Leno.Leaving via Mulholland , the 101 or back down to the coast.......Whatevers best.....see ya there!!!!

Hey, after the ride, starting at 3 pm, there is going to be a party, an Acid Beach Party! In the Echo Lake area. Directions to the Echo:
101 North,
Exit Glendale / Echo Park Blvd. Go straight off the exit (pass the lake on your left). LEFT on Sunset. The Echo will be on your LEFT at 1822 Sunset Blvd.

101 South
Exit Alvarado. LEFT off the off-ramp (heading North on Alvarado). RIGHT on Sunset Blvd. The Echo will be on your RIGHT at 1822 Sunset Blvd.

What is an Acid Beach Party? Click BadWebSurf to find out. It's not about testing drugs or breaking the law; it's all about celebrating springtime, having fun and partying it up with the best surf music/psychedelic video show around. After all, Spring is here and we're not getting any younger.: )

Jen & I went to our first Acid Beach Party 3 years ago. It was a lot of fun then, and this time there are 6 bands, so it's gonna be more fun. Well, can't wait to do it again...
Ride, Rock'n Roll,
Sparky

3 days straight on the track but I'll be coming out to help out in the pits.

You all have fun at the Streets of Willow tomorrow! Stop in if you need anything, I'm bringing all my tools, spares, the usual stuff that you really don't want to have to hassle with the first time out so show up, no worries.

Gonna be some serious fun!

Wayne - was that you with the wicked road rash from that idiot in the car who hit you on your XB?

Turns out the October Buell event sold out in less than a couple weeks but you MIGHT be able to get your name on a waiting list - you'd have to give the organizer a shout to see if they could do that for you.

Official Buell details:
http://buell.com/en_us/news_events/insidepass/inde x.asp

Private Track time is the company that Buell hired to run the track days and you will have to hit them directly to see if they can do the waiting list thing for you.

http://www.privatetracktime.com/buell_days/insidep ass/event_101707.aspx

There is a phone number and email on the Private Track Time website.

I don't think anybody expected it to fill up as fast as it did!

We're pretty likely going to have another Glendale sponsored track day - in the discussion stages right now - but that is a local event similar to the one just finished yesterday at one of the So CA tracks. We might use a different track day organizer who offers MORE on-track instructors.

That was a most excellent day at the track on Monday! My first time on a closed course, and it won't be my last. It surprised me when I was walking the pits to look up at the Glendale tent area and see Bernie, then looked a bit farther and see Wayne limpin' up. Glad you both could come on out, although Wayne was one sad looking puppy watching other people ride while he couldn't. Heal fast Wayne, and by the way, if you turn that XB into a quad sell me those rims.

Pitted next to Erik ( Gearheaderiko ) and wanted to watch him ride, but we were in the same group so just had to watch out for other Buell's on the track to ride with. I did get kind of tired of getting passed every session by a red Firebolt, but it's all good fun.

Big thanks to the Glendale crew for getting that track day set up for us.

Well we had about 45 minutes of hard corner carving in between about three hours of cold fog so thick I couldn't see my tach on our ride to the Rock Store on Sunday. I didn't get any pics, but I know others got the obligatory pic with Jay Leno who was there on a factory new 1980's Honda CBX. How 'bout it Ebear or Rhino, anything worth posting from that day?

Did anybody else get the BOA email from California Harley Davidson?

We're planning to go check it out on Saturday, (March 31) - anyone else interested? I think it's a decent effort on their part...

It sure felt good to ride a bit, heres a few pics of my ride and a of my buddies. Some of you guys know Bernie Vega, well thats his Triumph trophy 500 that his dad bought new & the chopper Boneville is his brothers. And you guys wonder why were called HOOLIGANS?

Loli and I have recently moved to Green Valley. If ya know where Lake Elizabeth, Lake Hughes, the Rock Inn, etc are, we're near there. Basically we're on the corner of Spunky & San Francisquito.

If yer gonna be in the neighborhood or something's broken, look us up (Rider's Assistance Network) or send a PM.

The move was prompted by a number of things. Loli's health was the number one factor. Let's just say it looks to be paying off in that regard - big time.

The place is still a disaster. I don't even know where my tools are. But I could probably figure it out if anyone needed help. Or a glass of water.

The OFFICIAL wedding invitation (from the WSMC Newsletter) - this will be Saturday the 14th:

quote:

Jane Schwartzkopf (# 678) and Ken Ryder (#750) cordially invite all WSMC racers, crew members, staff and friends to their wedding taking place following Saturday night’s SOLO races in the HOT PIT Lane.

The civil ceremony will be conducted by Steve Slaughter (WSMC 604) with running commentary provided by, who else? David Koenig!

Immediately following the ceremony, riders are invited to join the newlywed couple in a cerimonial parade lap around the Historic Willow Springs Track.

Following the ceremony will be a reception with burgers provided by the bride and groom. Music will be provided by WSMC 883 - Disk Jockey Jeff “Slipp” Dixon.

Jane and Ken requested that ALL riders come to the ceremony in their leathers.

Note: the parade lap does NOT require race gear or tech inspection BUT you must have a helmet and common sense riding protective gear. RACERS are requested to ride in their leathers.

NOTE: this is a Civil Ceremony. I'm deputized to perform a CIVIL ceremony - I AM NOT ORDAINED!!! (there's been some confusion about a religious conversion but the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't ordain anybody)
