I was just reading a Popular Science mag and saw that the new thing for high end cars is led headlights. brighter, no heat, significantly less power draw, works virtually forever, vibration resistant. leds sound like everything that I am looking for. has anyone heard about led headlights for motorcycles? I suspect that the whole headlight assy will have to be replaced. by the by has anyone found led modules for the stock turn signals? thanks T3

I did some back of the envelope calculations to see what that would take about two years ago. This is when the white LED's had *just* moved from exotic to mainstream, when the little checkout counter LED flashlights started appearing.

Short answer? $4000.

That being said, LED technology has progressed by leaps and bounds since then. *That* being said, I bet you are still looking at $1000.

A HID works and looks great and will probably outlast the bike for $200, and has many of the advantages of an LED setup.

I wonder 1) how many small white LED bulbs it would take to match the candlepower of, say, an H3 bulb and 2) whether all of them would fit into a Firebolt projector headlight?

if you are looking for the turn signals themselves, go to ebay motors and in the motorcycle parts section search for led turn signals for buell. they have some really cool billet aluminum models for about 70 bucks a set. very high quality.

I think I know which billet turn signals you're referring to. We are carrying them now, but in black instead of the silver that he was offering.

We used to have the similar ones in incandescent, see http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-a pp.cgi?usr=51F4004380&rnd=753340&rrc=N&affl=&cip=6 9.160.135.44&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=16091&cat=&cats tr=, but the source dried up.

The new ones are clear lens amber LED, but otherwise use the same body. I'll put them up on the website today under the same product number.

This flasher is plug and play and solves LED Turn signal issues: http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-a pp.cgi?usr=51F4004380&rnd=4130972&rrc=N&affl=&cip= 69.160.135.44&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=16086&cat=&cat str=HOME

Are the LED turn signals just a looks thing or are there other advantages?
