Well, after a futile search for a "factory" switch, for the right side housing, I finally settled on this.
I can operate them with my gloves on, I guess that's all that matters.
The one on the right is for driving lights.
The left one, is for the heated grips.
Using relays behind the flyscreen, allowed the use of small (22gauge) wire at the switches.

Peace
Milo

Are they waterproof?

Waterproof? Technically, no.
But, I put RTV behind them, and they are full of grease.
They will serve me well.

I do like the purple! ;)

If you decide after a while you would like more switch options, I like this place:

Nice install!

Thanks ft bstrd!
I really like those "Cherry" switches.
But, I really wanted to keep the switches in the housing.
I suppose that someday, someone will figure out what "factory switch, goes "there".

It's a slider used to turn the headlights on/off on European bikes.

Do tell!
Inquiring minds want to know.
Steveknapp, do you know this for a fact?
Do you have a part number?
A source?
A manufacturer?

"I suppose that someday, someone will figure out what "factory switch, goes "there"..."

Doesn't the switch on the clutch side (turn signal? I can't remember) use the same opening? If some one can look at one of those and get the markings from it, it should not be too hard to run down the maker.

Thanks Milo.

I'm not the guy that was looking for the switch, just trying to help find it.

I guess the next thing now is to ask the guy that designed the cavity on the right grip what the heck he intended to put in there. Normally, I'd think anyway, the grip housing would be designed to host a part that existed.

Man, if I could find the manufacturer....
I guess my searching skill aren't up to the task.
I can't find out who makes the housing, nor any of the various switches therein.
I've been posting my progress over in the KV threads trying to help another BadWebber.
I'll keep trying.

Peace

My dream is for future Ulys to come pre wired for heated grips and that a small durable weather proof rocker switch will be designed specifically for that housing as a hi-lo switch for the grips.

It's not as grand a dream as the whole "new engine" dream but it's more important to me than horse power.

Not bad. I plan on adding the poly heaters soon... it may be a little late in the season down here, but I'll doc everything.

Glad to see folks document their mods.

alternate option - add your own switchbox where I did.

the project box is from an electrical supply place, uses a labrinyth type O ring seal, and I used Krylon black to match theCityX handlebars. switches use boots, and I solder, di-electric grease, and shrink tubed everything inside. two 1/4"20 bolts fasten it to the bridge piece of the handlebar clamp, and there's room for several switches, pot control for variable heat etc.

Milo:

My error. . . the last Buell C.E.V. was on the 1998 models. The 1999's started with a new supplier.

I have a box of the "blanks" somewhere for the C.E.V.'s but can't for the life of me recall who (IIRC it's a Japanese firm) supplies the current switches.

Let me do some snooping.

I'll keep checking also.
