I really enjoyed the sticky tire in the rain but I hit the wear bars at 2700miles.I talked to Duck at Willville around the campfire & he uses the Michelin road pilots(I think thats what he said anyway)I need to order a new rear tire & wonder what you guys have used & the results.I use Perelli Diablo Strada's on my X1 and am happy with wear & performance.I will rarely use the bike offroad.Just an occasional gravel or dirt road.thanks for any input. I put Avon Azaros (AV45/46) on mine. I had them on my M2 and liked them. If you like the Pirellis, then try them. I've heard good things about them from a few different people. (Message edited by Crusty on September 13, 2006) | ||

The Michelin Anakee is also really nice. That's what I have on my GS1200. I have more than 4000 km on it and they are like new. I have Stradas on my Uly and if you already know how they are and like them, they will work. I personally am going to try the Syncs next, but the Stradas will work. I presently have 4600 miles on the rear and have not hit the wear bars yet. They have out lasted the D616s by at least 1,000 miles. | ||

I put Michelin Pilot Roads on my Uly 7000 mi. ago and they are holding up very well. They have a tread pattern that actualy grips on gravel pretty well. If I would drop the pressure down a little, I'm sure they would perform as well as the dunlops off road. On road, as most will tell you, any good sport or sport touring tire will improve the feel of the front of the bike compared to the Dunlop. I can't speak for the Pirelli,as I've never riden one. I will second Crusty on the Avon Azaro's. Just over 3500 miles and the rear still has over half tread left, front looks close to new. They work pretty good on dirt and gravel if you are not too aggressive. | ||

I've got about 2000 mile on a set of Continental Road Attacks and they are showing hardly any wear. I got about 5000 out of the Dunlops but I was well into the wear bars on the rear and the front had started to cup. I'm very happy with them, stick as well or better than the D616's and no wandering front end. Plus they only cost about $220 shipped to my door. | ||

I have had 3 different tires on mine. The original 616 then a Diablo Stada and now the Bridgestone BT20. The Strada is far better than either of the others. 616 wore to quickly and the BT20s are not anywhere as sticky as the Stradas are. The Stradas also went over 12000kms before replacing and that was mostly 2 up. | ||

I agree with ikeman, I have conti road attacks also. I now have over 4k on the rear and it looks like they'll go another 4,however I mainly use the uly for trips. | ||

I'm running Michelin Pilot Powers on mine currently since I've been taking my Muell to the track this year. I love the tires, but they are not going to be much in terms of longevity. Makes me very interested in the Pilot Roads. I'm going to have a dedicated track machine (125GP bike) for next year, so the Uly will be back to full-time road use. I may try the Pilot Roads, or the Scorpion Syncs. Also interested in checking out the Dunlop Qualifiers... | ||

I am on my fifth set of tires on the ULY... Stocks Dunlops lasted 2500, then one set of Synchs, 2 sets of Pilot Roads and now Avon Azaros. I think the bike handles better with the Synchs than with the Michelins. The Pilot Roads got about 1200 more miles than the Syncs. The new Avons look a lot better in person..they have a really deep tread and they transition from left to right better than the Pilot Roads...I only have about 50 miles on the Avons but I think they are a keeper... | ||

I have to voice the Avon Azaros as well. I have been very pleased with mine. I hope to get more that the 2700 miles I got out of my 616s. I checked with Avon directly. For fitment, they recommend 36 psi front and 42 rear on the AV45/AV46s. I'm hoping that higher pressures mean less flex, less heat, and more mileage. | ||

Well I have gotten a little frustrated until I read here. I have the swimming feeling. Definitely takes some of the fun out and doesn't give me the confidence I should have with this bike after 1500 miles. I have tried two different settings on the suspension and checking air in the tires. Here are my questions: 1. Is there anything else I should try with the suspension? I have read some have set it up for a really light rider and that seemed to help. I weigh 205 lbs. 2. It seems that any tire that the bike is changed to eliminates the swim feeling? Is there anyone out there who has had multiple tires that can verify this? 3. Tire recommendations seem to be Pirellis Syncs, Avon Azaros and Michelin Pilot Roads. I also see some references to the Dulop Qualifiers. Can somebody tell me what the differences are without tire manufacturer fluff? I ride only on the street by the way. thanks | ||

Gtmg - I've had both Syncs and Continentials on the bike. Neither swim. I've got Syncs on there now because I got a good deal on them. I'll go back to Continentials when they wear out. They seem to have excellent tire life. Also, the Syncs have a tread pattern that works well off road. The Contis don't. |
