I've had my Ulysses for about 3 weeks after trading in my S3 which was gremlin ridden. Other than the painful wait for my ordered tank bag, it's been a great time. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the following: I miss the mirrors on the S3. I've seen the extended mirrors on the Buell site. Are they worth the $50? I had a set of Wolfman Summit Saddlebags for my S3. When I put them on my Ulysses, they just get sucked into the area under the seat since there is no real "side" to the bike. Anyone have any success with soft bags on the Ulysses? |

I have a set of these... I have not put more than ~1200 miles on them and don't use them for commuting everyday (otherwise I would have just gotten the hard cases) but they work fine, no issues with clearance or interference between seat and tire. They have a semi-stiff backing on the bike-side and a low strap looping to the rear foot peg area to keep them from swinging/flapping. The downside is that the triple-tail wrap-around brace is in the way and kinda warps the backing but I have decided to live with that and they work for my needs. I had a difficult time deciding but wanted something removable and waterproof... No 2up testing performed as of yet though as I am solo 98% of my riding...

I have the Bags-Connection Speedpack wide.. I only use it for trips etc.. not for everyday use, but I really like it. My only complaint is you have to be careful when mounting as the rear bracket/strap can rub the paint on the rails holding the beaver tail... I just covered them with the clear paint protecting sheets and some tape. |

I made these brackets to stop soft bags from doing that very thing.

Mike, That looks great. Does the back of that monster slip over the beaver tail? |

No....in the pic above, I have the tail folded down. I also put the bag on with the tail up. Either way it was very secure, but I think it sits better with the tail folded forward. It basically attaches with four straps and quick releases - easy on and off, once you know how you want it mounted you can get it on or off in 1-2 minutes. It also comes with a shoulder strap to carry bag. It waterproof liners for each compartment that velcro into place.. very functional. The front 2 straps basically attach down near the passengar pegs. There are probably a couple of ways to attach the rear.. I actually attached the strap to the grab rail and then ran it under the fender to the opposite side... seemed to be very secure. The bag moved very little after 6 hours of riding twisties.. it slid forward a tiny bit probably (less than an inch) because it sits on the grab rails with are not level. Also serves as a nice back rest when you want to relax a bit while riding. Overall I'm very happy with this (volume is 75-100 liters).. it also as a 10 year manufacturer warranty. hth |
