Can anyone give me any info on waxed cotton as riding gear (I'm specifically looking at the Falstaff from Aerostich, as it's built with the same features as the Darien, including the armor, but any general info would do)? Thanks |

Jim, I love my old Belstaff jacket. It's the third I've owned and it's like an old friend. Little snug on me now, cause I was about 25 lbs lighter when I originally bought it. But a really comfortable old jacket. No experience with the Falstaff, but my Belstaff jackets have all leaked in seriously hard rain. Good water resistant wear, not waterproof. Funnily enough my Belstaff pants, which are 23 years old, are still water-PROOF. I like the fit, feel and the look of the Belstaff, but the Darien's a far more functional all-round jacket. It'll serve you in all types of weather, from blistering hot to frigid cold (if you buy big enough for layers). In fact, thanks to the useful vents, my Darien's the only jacket I've ever owned that's actually comfortable in blistering heat.... when you're moving. fwiw, Lornce |
