Some of us have already talked about another C3 adventure this fall. Who's interested in heading to the NC mountains this fall? I think we talked about October 2006. Let's find another C3 Central in NC! What we probably need to talk about is what part of the mountains should we look at a place to stay. A large cabin like what we had in Suches would be great. If you'll give me some ideas of places to check into, I'll start looking around and make a reservation. So far we have 6-7 interested. Who else wants to go?? As you can see we are a scattered out group of North Carolina Buell riders. We hope you can join us on our mountain weekend in October. We'd leave on Friday AM and get there sometime that afternoon and check out on Sunday. Since it won't be nearly as far as GA we could get more riding time in. He's checking dates with/without children. The beginning of the month is better for Carlos concerning work. As soon as I talk to JimN, I'll post again. He's heading out on business and will return later this week. Rebecca has a few names of people/places for us to check out. If you know of any places to check into, let me know. I'll start doing some legwork for a large cabin close to the Dragon. October 6-8 (Fri-Sun), somewhere in the NC mountains close to the Dragon. Like last time, we'll need to get a committed head count and start looking for a cabin. We'll try and stay under the $100 per person for the weekend. All OK with that amount? So far I have: Jim & Tonya - 2 Jim & Rebecca - 2 Glenn - 2 Carlos & Kristi - 2 Dave & Letta - 2 Any others????? I love grandparents that not only live close, but don't mind keeping 3 children, all at the same time!! Seriously-Tonya doesn't really feel comfortable around alot of people, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU ALL<TRUST ME. She has always bee that way. I am not going to trailer up from here so that is a turn off for her also. But I am working on it. Looking back at our list of interested people, we may need 2 cabins. After reviewing this thread we have the following C3ers. If this needs to be updated, please let me know, as it will determine our cabin needs. For anyone who is more familiar with that area, please let me know towns/places to stay or stay away from. I'll post again on what Rebecca and I have found. We started off with Western NC, and I think you and Rebecca were looking for cabins around Deals Gap. But Rebecca told me that was still up in the air. I guess it would be good to nail that down. Here are the places I know something about: Deals Gap Pro - It's Deals Gap Con - Distance, Crowds, & LEOs Asheville Pro - Rubberdown knows the roads Pro - Strics cycle shop Con - Selection of roads? Boone Pro - Already have route from 2005 BRAG ride with a great selection of varied roads Pro - Lots of cabins available Con - Does anyone here know the area? I would be happy with any of these choices. Here are my personal thoughts on which one I would prefer. I've never done the dragon, so I'd like to do that some time in my life just so I can say that I have. However, doing it during leaf changing season on a weekend wouldn't be my first choice. I'm always more comfortable with the familiar (this is a fault of mine), so Boone is very appealing. I really like the ride up to Shady Valley. I've never continued past Shady Valley, but I'm told the road continues to be excellent. When I put the list of destinations together, Boone was my first choice. But now I'm thinking Asheville may be better. It's drawback in my mind was that I thought all the great roads were some distance from Asheville. But Rubberdown showed me some really good ones when I was up there with him. At the same time, it's only 100 miles from Asheville to either Deals Gap or Shady Valley, and the ride to Blowing Rock is awsome. There is also stuff in town for my non-corner-carving g/f to do. But like I said before, I'll be happy where ever we end up.
