For those of you that have done it, please offer some advice about an exhaust swap... Specifically, I was all set to mount my race kit and ran into a bit a snafu in terms of the local dealer not having any of the exhaust straps in stock (as if they stock any Buell part, Ha, Ha). What I need to do is get some opinions about the need to replace it every time we drop our exhaust cans for any reason. And in the techno realm I'm also not equipped with a shop manual yet and need to know the torque specs on the exhaust straps and clamp... I have a printed copy of Chad's directions, but since the torque specs are pretty strict (and maybe this is of even greater importance if I do reuse the original strap), I was wondering if someone can let me know how many ft.lbs. the manual states (and of course I'm hoping the torque specs are more accurate than they seem to be on the oil filler stuff as I have been reading). Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone that can offer tips! |

Front header must be torqued first.(78-96 in.-lbs.) Rear muffler bracket fasteners 32-36 ft.-lbs. first tighten front strap snug then rear strap 48-60 in.-lbs. front muffler mount 16-18 ft.-lbs. then front strap 108-120 in.-lbs. Back off two full turns and then again 108-120 in.-lbs. then torca clamp 28-30 ft.-lbs. front muffler mount 16-18 ft.-lbs. |
