I was out riding my XB12S this afternoon when my "check engine light came on! The fan doesnīt run after riding as it always does. When i press the ignition button the fan starts for a few seconds and the fuel pump runs. Then the fan stops and the check engine light turns on. What could this be??? HELP! |

Hi Erik, Dave is right. Check your bike's trouble codes. I have had great success with this in the past. It may be something simple. Do you have service manual? Let me know if I can help. Keith |

I have a ULY and I think it has the same diagnostic procedure as the other xb's. I checked codes on a xb9 a couple of years ago and I remember it to be the same. It is as easy as connecting pin #1 and #2 on the datalink connector. They are the two on the left if the locking clip on the connector is pointed downward. Then turn the key/ignition switch to on (but do not start engine)and watch the engine light. 1.intermission (6 flashes at 3 flashes per second) 2. a 2 second pause 3. Count the number of 1 second flashes and this will be your first digit. 4. a 2 second pause 5. Count the number of 1 second flashes and this will be your second digit. 6. 2 second pause, then it repeats.....intermission...etc. The engine light will continue to flash the code sequence until you turn the ignition switch off. Please have someone else verify this procedure for your xb before you try it. |

u don't need tools to read the codes...u just need to make a jumper wire....it shows you how to do it in the service manual |
