hey guys, just fired up the X1 after it has been setting in storage and hasnt run since Jan 10th. since it is not as cold and I brought the fresh loaded battery it started pretty good, held it at 2000 rpms for a minute or two and then let it idle. After like 5 min only the front cylinder got really warm. I assume this is just the fouled plugs, am I correct ? böse, OH | ||

Slag, If you're talking about a center stand mounted on the bike, then no. If you're talking about a center stand used for working on the bike in a garage, then yes, click here or here. I think you're talking about the center-stand version of a kickstand though. I don't remember seeing one on a Sportster either. The older hard-tail Harley's had sort-of one that swung down from the rear and was secured while riding with a springclip on the rear fender. | ||

Slag, They actually used to make center stands for Early Sportsters and K Models, but when they changed the frame in Seventy One, they dropped the mounts in back of the motor mounts. You will only find the Garage type now, I'm afraid. Hi Mike J. Barry Mercer In Seattle | ||

hello everyone, i have a question... friend of mine gave me a screaming eagle air filter kit for a sporster, will this kit fit on a 2000 m2? i still have the to get a standard sporster air filter but it came with the backing plate, filter, venturi ring, and carb adapter. the only thing that puzzles me is that the hole in the backing plate for the carb is in the center, not offset to the rear like the stock breadbox. if anybody can shed some lite on this i would really apreciate it. by the way the screaming eagle part # is 29082-90. says for 40mm xl models. thanx, orngm2 | ||

Orngm2, The reason the hole isn't offset on the Harley one compared to the Buell one is because the Buell frame has a different geometry than the Sporty's frame. I build an aircleaner for my bike similar to the stock Sportster one, and had to use a couple of spacers like those that come stock with the airbox. I don't have the part number for it on hand though. You can also take a 3/8" piece of metal (aluminum is easiest to work), and make a spacer with a 40mm hole in the center and the holes for the hardware. If you can't find a spacer at a dealer, or make your own, shoot me an email, I'll see what I can toss together. One problem with using the Sportster air cleaner is your leg may hit it. Good luck! They totally goofed on some things, like the name of the Firebolt which they refer to as "Thunderbolt."  They refer to the ergonomics as feeling "Japanese" and that... "I adapt to the bike very quickly, and once again the Buell feels almost Japanese." That indicates to me that the author is very much pro-UJM biased, which makes his following comments that much more credible and impressive...
