Here's some pics of a Buell racer that we (Latus) have been working on. It was supposed to be a Pro Thunder machine, but since that class is no longer around, we will probably run it in the FUSA Superbike class. Let us know what you think!
Thanks, Josh Bryan.

Check your formats and file sizes, those are the two primary problems people have. That and tpyos. ;)

I'd love to see it. If you can't get the photo to work, are there any web-sites with photos?

Josh,

Email the new pics to me or Keith and I'll compress them and post them for you. I was holding back on the previous pics you sent, hoping to get some more of the bike in a more assembled state.

What size engine. Do I recall correctly that it is a 100 incher (1650cc's)?

The folks at Latus are aiming towards Daytona and the FUSA Superbike series. COOL!

Can you say 150 RWHP?

Thanks Josh! We will want to be kept in the know on the exploits of that bike.

FYI... I used the http://ww.xat.com Image Optimizer to compress the jpegs from their raw ~130 KB to under 50 KB for upload to the board.

More interesting Latus/Buell Superbike photos...

Not an oil reservoir
Can you guess what the aluminum tank is?

Nice tail
Imagine the sound bellering forth from such a beast left unmuffled

Thanks again Josh! We'll all be pulling for you to make a good showing in FUSA Superbike. Who will be riding the beast?

Now THAT is one fast-looking Buell!! What an effort it must have been assembling that! Looks like LOTS of custom fabrication. My wallet feels thinner just lookin' at it! Good luck!

I like the dash, very trick. That pipe for the rear cylinder looks a might dangerous tho. Bake your inner thigh real good.

Looks great! Can you offer any other info.? What's the displacement/HP? Are you sticking with the stock swing-arm and front brake? Are you going to have any problem fitting it into the FUSA Superbike class?

I'm all over that panel!

Looks like a great platform to incorporate LOTS of fun stuff in, including comm, navigation and tons of fun.

I'm sitting here looking at my homemade S-2 system with CB, Cassette, power amp, radar detector, intercom, cell phone and maps and I'm betting current tech could cut about 40# out of the thing and make it much more functional.

One of our own Badwb folks is the king of Racing Computers, let's hear more about that system.

Pi?

So let's see, they carved the frame/gas-tank to provide clearance for the rear pipe, they moved the oil tank out of the swingarm up high, are they going to put gas in the now-empty swingarm for more range????? ;)
What's the other side of the bike look like?????

Here's some info: 80 cubic inches, 150 h.p., that aluminum tank is an air/oil, catch/return can, not the oil tank, the frame is still the fuel tank, the front pipe exits under the bike, the swing arm is a chain conversion, I'll be riding the bike, we captured the #4 plate in Pro Thunder last year.

WOW!!!
I was curious about the tank. At first look, I too thought it was a relocated oil tank.
My first thought was "not much cooling gonna happen with the oil tank that close to pipe".
doesn't really matter for a catch can though...
Dyna, I thought the same thing about the rear pipe. Ouch! I'll bet a heat shield is forthcoming.

Just curious, why the change in triple clamps? Just more strength or a geometry change?

Awesome looking bike!!

That panel is a MyChron 3+ panel. I've looking at one for the SV. They are now making one specifically for motorcycles as well at the cart application.

A little header wrap and/or a shield and the heat problem is easily solved.

Josh,
I understand that in order to help tame the brutal power of that beast that y'all lengthened the wheel base a some via the chain conversion. How much? Do you have a weight?

I'm really interested in the air/oil separator. Richard Cronrath runs a similar setup in his racing Buells. Can you talk about the need for the separator and how it works? How do you get the oil back into the system?

Also, have you considered webbing out the right side swingarm like some of the Pro Thunder bikes have done?

If you need to dial in the chassis, I know the perfect track in East Texas to get it done. Price? $100/day.

Thanks for the correction on displacement.

Looks like the w/b is about 1-1.5" longer based on a visual comparison.
