So I am sitting upstairs in my office at home this afternoon and getting ready to take my son to the doctor. It isn't raining, so I said to him let's take the Buell. I go down to the garage and put the key in the ignition to start the bike and warm it up while we are getting our gear on, and I have no mirrors. Little further check and I have scratches on my airbox cover, my tank bra is cut. All this happened in MY OWN HOUSE. Some SLIME BAG HAD TO HAVE THOSE MIRRORS. Just the mirrors.

Moral of the story-close your garage door John.

Get this-NOTHING is missing from my customized 04 Wide Glide-NOTHING. They are RIGHT next to each other.

Sorry-just venting.

Totally unrealated, but I have to bitch. I am an aircraft Maintenance Engineer. So I have been doing some international work and have been shipping my tools all over the place. I got home last week and have been waiting for my tools to show up. I phoned the shipping company and they told me that the driver left them on the front porch. There were over 8K dollars of tools in that box that he left on my front porch and they are gone. Suxs

It comes down to a fundamental lack of respect for others, and their property.

It makes me sick.

I have had people go to unbelievable lengths to break in to a utility bed
pickup to steal my tools. They don't care that they are taking your lively-
hood away when they take your tools.

I hear that-fundamental lack of respect and just plain stupid. Bad thing was is I have no one to blame but myself for leaving the garage door up. But who the HECK thinks to close the garage door when they are in the house and it is broad daylight. This is a typical suburban neighborhood. I have one of those hard top covers on my pickup and I need to lock that now. Shoulda known-my kid had his bicycle stolen out of the garage last summer. Nobody noticed it as I had been working late. I mention to him I hadn't seen his bike for 2 days, who's house was it at.

It makes me sick as well. What ever happened to working for what you have. I just know that some crack head grabbed them and probably sold them for a hit. I think laws should change so that the victims of crime should be able to take it out on those who are guilty with a bat!

Scoobytwo,

I can relate, I am in the same situation as yourself and have had airlines lose the box, been lucky though, always recovered.

Just as annoying I'm sure is losing all the custom wrenches and doodads you've made over the years for those special jobs.

Who do you work for?
I'm with Kelowna Flightcraft.

I came in the house to take a leak once, and some SOB rolled my compressor out! Gone!

I shut my door now.

Vito....just make sure that they aren't coming back for more. Sounds like they have been scoping you out for a while. I makes me nervous when I see a strange car toolin' around my neighborhood when I have my garage door open tinkering on the bike. I always scared that they are lurking for something cool to steal. We have had some break-ins as of late.

I had someone steal my cat's medications (basically water) because the box was from a pharmaceutical company. Wonder what the market value of Normosol is... =\

Scooby, hope you get your stuff taken care of to your satisfaction.

Whenever I'm in the garage I have one of these as my assistant. Her name is Gretchen, she weighs 85 pounds and was trained by a Texas State Prison guard. Oh and she's somewhat territorial... so I have no problems leaving the garage door open.

There was a local news story about this kind of theft. Some shabby indigent stated stealing is ok, cause it teaches people how to take care of their assets.

FCBuell: Deductibles of about 500 bucks, and frankly my rates would go up. I ordered another set of mirrors from Trojan last night. Scratches I'll have to live with.
Ted: This low life slime certainly taught me that. The alarm system in the house I bought is up, and I had them add some motion sensors to the garage. So I learned how to protect my assets. Expensive lesson!

I had my mountain bike stolen from in front of my garage. I just came back from a ride and left it outside to use the bathroom. After I used the bathroom and got a drink of water I opened the garage to bring in my bike.........GONE!!!

It's probably good that I didn't see the thief because I would probably be wearing an orange jump suit right!

Scoobytwo,

Funny you should mention Avmax on a topic of theft, I just stole one of their employees last month.

Don't want to hijack this thread though, PM me.

And, back on topic.

I can personally attest to the value of motion sensors in your garage, as they allowed me to detain a 16 year old who broke in at 3AM.
I only had him for three minutes before police arrived (they come quick when told you've gone out to handle the situation), and he was some relieved when they got there.

Roadrage: THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN BOUT!!!!

Security guy is coming in 10 1/2 hours to install those motion sensors. I'll like that!

Too bad this ain't Texas-they let ya kill em and grill em if they are takin yer stuff. Here-you have to show that they were an imminent threat to your personal safety-THEN you can shoot em. Can't grill em, too many animal lovers around here!

I live in a super safe neighborhood in a cul de sac that requires about 3 turns to get to it and yet, someone felt a need to steel 3 of the 4 center caps off my piece of crap Chevy S-10.
