20% by bike 30% by owner Cecil, you have to add the sat/unsat together and then divide. Not divide one into the other Still, 20% and 30% are something to be concerned about (at least) or embarrassed by (at most) JustJoe |

'97 M2 bought new - Satisfied '95 S2 bought used - Satisfied The real question is will my next bike be a Buell? I don't think so, I feel that I have outgrown the performance level of Buell's current lineup. Buck |

"Brian, Firstly... Aren't you leaving one particularly important detail out of your list?" What would that be Blake? That my dealer refused to fix a rear cylinder that took a crap? So I had to go to another shop that totally destroyed it? Regardless, I still would have had the top end off in 10K miles. And how would you explain the other failures? Puhlease! By the way people, an acceptable quality rate should be somewhere between 85% - 95%. What's really frightening is that the unsatisfaction does not seem to have anything to do with the bikes' performance capabilities. It all has to do with crap service and poor build quality / design. I've purchased 2 sportbikes and 1 cruiser since getting off the Muell. So they've missed out on about $30K of my money. Although, they damn near broke even considering all the repairs I had to pay for. |

Because I was bored today... By model M2 - 40 Sat - Avg Mileage 16K, 6 Unsat - Avg Mileage 28K, 13% unsatisfied (by bike) S1 - 21 Sat - Avg Mileage 14K, 4 Unsat - Avg Mileage 12K, 16% unsat S1W - 11 Sat - Avg Mileage 15K, 3 Unsat - Avg Mileage 19K, 21% unsat S3 - 17 Sat - Avg Mileage 28K, 10 Unsat - Avg Mileage 21 K, 37% unsat X1 - 17 Sat - Avg Mileage 12K, 14 Unsat - Avg Mileage 14K, 41% unsat S2 - 20 Sat - Avg Mileage 23K, 1 Unsat - Avg Mileage 14K, 5% unsat Blast 17 Sat - Avg Mileage 4K, 2 Unsat - Avg Mileage - 7K, 10% unsat XB9R - 12 Sat - Avg Mileage 5K, 0 Unsat RR1000 - 1 Sat, 0 Unsat RS1200 - 3 Sat, 0 Unsat RR1200 - 2 Sat, 0 Unsat Didn't break it down by year, but it seems the tube frame fuelies (i.e. 99+ S3 and X1) are the most problematic. The M2, S1, S1W are better but still pretty high. S2 seems the best. Blast seems good but mileages are very low. XB9R is too new to tell. RR's and RS's have too small a sample to be meaningful. Another thing. You should be counting bikes, not owners. The target of the survey is to measure the bikes satisfaction rate (or reliability rate). That should be a per bike unit thing, not per owner. Additionally, eeeeeks point is also correct: How many more unsatisfied are no longer around (why would they be) to participate? On the other hand, many who have positive and negative experiences do not surf at all. So what? This whole survey thing is pointless as an empiracle study. No offense to Court or Blake. I am glad you are doing this survey. It is useful for this "postage stamp" size group anyway. "May the winds of the east, blow your dandruff to Mecca..." By the way, it's me (Jon) from SacBorg. |

Hey Jon, Agreed, a voluntary internet survey must be taken for what it is, an inexact statistically uncertain exercise. MikeJ got it all kicked off in good form after Court and Snail mused over the stats. I'm having fun analyzing the results though. |

I have to disagree with you Blake. You say this is "an inexact statistically uncertain exercise". No, it isn't. It is very exact and very certain. It is measuring those who read Bad Weather Biker's BBS and are willing to post their satisfaction/unsatisfaction with their Buell. Nothing more or nothing less. So, in that sense it very exact and very certain. Does it measure every Buell owner past or present? No, but so what? By the way, I work for an advertising agency and a survey like this would be used as gospel in the advertising world. "87% of M2 owners recently surveyed by Bad Weather Bikers BBS are satisfied with their purchase!" Accurate? Yes. Inexact? No. Uncertain? No. |

M2me, Any statistics, by their very definition, include uncertainty with respect to the finite sample's ability to accurately represent the trend(s) of an entire population. That is all I am saying. I didn't say it was invalid. It certainly has validity and meaning. The poll results are however not exact, in fact they represent a small sample even of registered and active BadWeB users. |
