My neutral light on my 02 M2 works sometimes some times it don't. Seems lately to not be working very often at all. Any ideas on what to check? Guess it's not that big of deal but kind of nice to have.

The wire to the switch then the switch itself. The switch is located just to the front of the drive pulley, where it pokes through the crankcase into the transmission.

I doubt the wire would have an intermittent problem but a poor contact to the switch could. The switch itself could be a more likely culprit due to wear and / or contamination from road debri / weather etc.

A simple check to do with the ignition 'ON' would be to remove the wire terminal off the switch, check it looks good, then hold it to 'ground' against the crankcase. The neutral light should glow like a christmas tree when that terminal is 'grounded'. If it doesn't the problem is more likely a poor connection at the bulb end or a poor connection along the length of the wire somewhere. A chafed wire or block connector etc? If the light does glow like a christmas tree then remove the switch from the crankcase and test it with a multimeter. It should have continuity present from where the wire connects and through to the opposite end of the switch which grounds against whatever it touches inside the transmission, which I forget what that 'thing' is now.

If the switch is clearly faulty replace it though it may just want a good clean. Make sure that the inside end of the switch, the bit that touches that thing I forget inside the transmission, isn't worn away. A worn contact would also cause your problem in which case again, replace the switch.
