Ok guys I need some help! My bike is a 03 9s with race kit, 12 air lid and jardine. It started running funny about 4 days ago. I went to start it and it fired up for about 4 seconds and then started stumbling, for the first 4 seconds it went to regular idle then stumbles and even died. I have to give it gas to keep running. But it will stay runnning when it warms up? It has new plugs and fresh gas, also excesive back fires on decel- high or low rpm. I dont know where to start all I know is that I hope this doesnt become a huge headache. The idle is set right about 1050 1100. It is also hard to ride smooth at low rpm, but will pull hard on top still, I'm lost any help would be great. I would rather ride the season out happy than tinkering everyday trying to figure this out. thanks Chris |

Noticed a lot of 03's seem to having this issue, mine included. I havent gotten around to taking a look at mine yet. I plan to finish the riding season, only another couple of weeks left, then buy the diag software and run some tests. Will post my results when I figure something out. Keep us posted with yours. |

I rode it this morning and the same thing did not want to stay running at first. I try to turn up the idle and nothing happens, it rode terible then I got to a stop sign and the idle was up to 3000 so I pulled over and turned it down then everything was cool. No more huge back firing and no more missing, I bet it is something stupid but I just dont know what to try unless someone as had this off and on problem too? |

There are a few diag programs out there. I forget the name of them, Daves, trojan, and American sportbike have them. With it you can perform your own tps reset. I would start there, then if thats not it you can check the sensors readings with the tool and see if any of them are out of wack. |

The guy I bought the bike from said I was reset about 2800 when he put the race kit on. The bike now has 4200 on the clock. But what is strange is that I started it up at 6:00 pm after a total cool down and it didnt die it idled almost fine just a little stumbling on idle. I have some crazy gremlins??? |
