Hey Griz, thanks for not answering me!!!
Anyway, I may be taking delivery of a certain item tomorrow around 3:00pm, or Saturday morning or possibly Sunday. Waiting for a reply as to when it works out for the other party. They will be going up to Janesville after here to pick up a CityX. I'll post as to when it's going down and hopefully a few knowledgeable people will be able to swing by and help me look it over. Yes, we are still on for the movie regardless. As far as the stunt show on Saturday, I'm thinking I'll pass. Too much other stuff to get ready for the Dragon trip. That and I may be pi55ing off my neighbors a little.

Sorry man, after wading through everything else on here, I lost my focus...

Just let me know what works out for you and the other dude and I'll be more than happy to swing over (although I can't do tomorrow around 3:00 - 5:00 sure, just not 3:00).

As soon as he gets back to me, I'll post. I really don't want to do it tomorrow, but he's worried that if he doesn't jump on that CityX it will be gone. 250 miles on it for $6500. I told him due to the fact that the new models get revealed this weekend, no one will most likely be buying anything until then. Hell, he wanted to do it tonite!!

Report from Great Lakes Dragaway:

Despite the threatening weather, the Harley Shootout went off with only a slight delay. I made a few passes and things were looking good. I was reasonably consistant and I was cutting pretty good lights (I think the worst was 0.072) so I was feeling pretty good. I was, however, in the same situation as two weeks ago, trying to decide what to dial in at. I wasn't sure as I was running at about 13.2 regularly but I'd do a 13.1 every now and then so I split the difference and dialed in at 13.15. First round was a good race, pretty close but I pulled it out. Second round was going well, I had a slower dial in than my opponent so I just needed to run my own race and hope for the best. I thought I cut a good light (it turned out to be 0.054) and everything felt pretty good. Launch seemed to be about the same as always so I thought I'd be pretty close to my dial in so I just told myself to relax and just don't make any mistakes and I should have the round. Just then, bam, missed shift going into fourth! I recovered pretty quickly but it was too late, he snuck around me just at the line. I had lost by less than a tenth of a second. I have to admit that even though this is just for fun, I was pretty crabby with myself for letting it get away from me. I'm over it now (sort of) but I'll be back to redeem myself.

Other than myslef, Leah was out running again. With Wes as crew chief, she made it to the second round as well, but broke out after that. But, the really cool thing is that her last four runs were all in the 10s. She's getting dangerously close to matching Wes's best time.

All in all, it was a fun night and I hope to see more Belle City folks at the upcoming events. Come on out and give it a try. I don't care what anybody says, sometimes going in a straight line can be pretty fun!

Definitely come out Tom! Typically, Wednesdays are pretty good to get out there and you can basically do 'laps', the only limiting factor being you can only do about 3 runs in a row before the engine heats up and you loose performance. I think Leah got about 25 runs in the wednesday we went with Jason, and that was with at least 5 'cool down' sessions. Very low pressure way to try it out!

I'm trying to put together a drag race article for FUEL magazine so it would be cool to get a bunch of people out there and get some good pics. I'm writing a 'drag racing 101' type article so it would be great to get an advanced copy to you guys and get your feedback, especially the first timers.

Leah is kicking some serious butt out there! I'm afraid I might lose my ride If i don't heal quicker...Probably the coolest run of the night was when she smoked that turbo V-rod heads up...she seems to be a crowd favorite too, especially with the female contingency. The bike made its 384th pass last night. According to my spreadsheet, avg ET was 10.97 (best ever of 10.72), average MPH was 120.34. Total maintenence over that period has been 1 clutch (my Fault), 2 oil changes, 3 rear tires and 1 turn signal! Buells ROCK!!!!!!!

Wes,
Whats your opinion running with my race dot's on?
or should I put my street tires back on?

So when's the next "fun" day. I'll come on out and play. What are the track requirements to run?

Tom, race DOTS will work great. A stock wheelbase Buell is typically wheelie limited before it is traction limited, so you could get by with standard street tires too. Probably don't have to do a burn out either, especially if the track is tacky (ask Jason about that....). I would just run whatever you have on at the moment.

Steve, not too much for tech requirements. Leak free vehicle, they get all excited about a chain/belt guard for some reasons. Ankle high boots, protective jacket, gloves and a helmet are required. Full leathers required if you exceed 120mph in the 1/4...This is on a wednesday fun night. There is no tech that I am aware of, otherthan the rider gear stuff, on the Harley shoot out night. Come on out!

Tom, don't take any pointers from me - I'm faking my way through it! The only thing I can offer that I know to be true is try not to miss any shifts. Like Wes said, though, that Wed. night that we were out there, we could pretty much run at will. I don't think we ever really waited more than for more than 3-4 people each time we lined up.

Steve, here's the schedule:
http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/index.php?page=schedule

Not much in the way of requirements:

You - Gloves, jackeet, helmet, over the ankle boots for under 120mph, leathers if over.

Bike - Not leaking, brakes, belt guard (stock one is fine). That's all I can think of. Wes, do you know of more?

Wes - I'd love to get a sneak peek at the article (I need as much help as I can get.)

I'm nowhere near the hardest leaver out there (2.0 60ft times), but if it says anything, I have yet to do a burnout, I haven't changed my tire pressure and have not had any problems with wheel spin at all. A small wheelie or two, but no tire spin.

Cool, I may go out there on the 27th if I can get out of here at a reasonable hour(I haven't been out of work before 10PM all week).
