Yea I got a couple of the big cans sitting around... Straight inlet because of the different exhaust manifold... |

Jerry No muffler, straight inlet due to the exhaust manifold wrapping all the way around the front of the engine |

we're talking about the same thing, Todd, but in my interpretation Buells don't have an exhaust manifold per se, unless you want to call the header itself an exhaust manifold, in which case you're absolutely correct. in my mind's eye i see the term "exhaust manifold" as a separate component, typically cast, bolted to the cylinder head, with an exhaust pipe bolted to the manifold. i've always referred to the initial exhaust system on a Buell as a "header", just like we used to bolt-up to our small-block Chevys when we were younger, removing/eliminating the need for the stock exhaust manifolds in the process. Newf, you're much too easily impressed. ps to Todd: also, in my mental definition of a header, the point at which all the various pipes come together (two pipes, in the case of a Buell) is called the collector, hence my mention of this several posts back. the front of the muffler slips over and clamps to the rear of the collector. |
