I just bought a 2000 honda cbr f4. The only problem with the bike(as far as I know)is when I put pressure on the front brakes, it shakes the bike back and forth . The brakes stay in contact the whole time but it seems as the wheel turns it tightens then loosens then tightens again causing a jerking motion. What steps should I take to find out the problem and fix it? Thankyou all,
Ben

Yep, it sure does.
the previous owner was probably doing stoppies with it. You can see if there is still enough left on the disc to have it turned, but probably have to get a new one. Should get new pads too, the old ones may be glazed.

Could also be glazing on the rotor. A warped rotor will cause excessive brake lever travel. I would imagine that a 2000 f4 would require about the first third of brake lever travel to have that thing just about standing on it's nose.

Thats how my Cyclone feels. Surely, a Honda F4 would have more responsive brakes then my 1940's tractor technology. ; )

When the local Harley dealer bent up my rotor installing a tire (to think I was trying to support them by paying 2x to have the mount it instead of my local independent), I had to do two full strokes of the lever before it would stop. Made for some pretty tense driving!

If you don't have excessive lever travel, I don't think it can be a warped rotor. Could be several other things...

The F4 is a nice bike... congrats!

I found some custom hand controls that im kinda
interested in. They have a 9/16 bore master cyle bore. Will these work on my 97 tbolt s3. While I'm asking, can anyone tell me what the rear m/c bore is?
Thanks guy...just joined, looking forward to taking part.
