Problems/Miles (Please be specific): |
Got this one with about 22k as a driver...not great shape. Have done tires, brakes, carb rebuild (with about twenty cycles of jetting), then coil. Trying to get engine to be very responsive, and trying to find a pretty intense weave or wander problem. Then replaced the isolators, checked wheels, frame, heim links; no joy. Have just pulled the front end apart. Found bad steer stem bearings. Rebuilding forks. Hope this may solve the wandering.

Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): |
WAS blue ridge parkway before traffic....back in the day. Fortunately, virginia has back roads of all kinds.

Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
I have had about 50 bikes. About 8 were HD, a lot of japanese, couple brits, some german and no italians (yet). But, wanted another sporty one, so tried the buell in most ergo friendly for my age thing. But, this thing is a beast. I enjoy everything about it save the slow speed wander that I have to fix (hope it was the stem brgs). Great in most things. Not good for quick buzz to the store; hard to turn due to restricted steering. But, nice engine, great brakes, mostly comfortable both on the back roads and the main roads as well. Nice combination for a beast.
|
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
Understand Eric is now back, but think he will stick to racing?? Don't know the newer series, but the toober is great.

Life History/Philosophy: |
Mechanical thingies since a child. Work on industrial eqpt, cars and bikes as a youngster, then nuc ships after school. Right now working on the old mercedes, rebuilding a 59 MGA, and the beast (M2). Philosophy...hmmm.
|
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): |
Not much more than 120.
|
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): |
Mobil 1; Hypuron; Redline; Brad Penn (mga)
