Personal Quote: |
"I love riding this bike and like the way the chassis is engineered but it sure is an attention for garage time." Found on the Badweb in reference to a failed front isolator.

Performance Mods!: |
Lots of little things.

Problems/Miles (Please be specific): |
I bought the XB12R new in 2004 and I have put over 41K wonderful miles on it. Only true problems is I keep wearing tires out! LOL The S3T I bought used with 2400 miles on it in Sept 2008. It's another Buell! I love it!! Thanks to all the advanced testing done in the prior years by all the Badweb tuber guys, I'm way ahead of the problem curve, so no problem. Feb, '09 bought a '96 S2. She is the Diva of the garage and is known around my house as "Baby".

Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
'04 XB12R...It was just the "right" bike for me. At the time it was rare bike, and really still is and has so much character. It was my first V-twin and now that I have lived with it, anyone that calls the engine a "lump" really doesn't know what they are talking about. The looks have really grown on me over the last several years since I became a member of the Buell following. I wanted a bike that was a little larger for touring on with my girlfriend and wanted some hard luggage. I came across the S3T with such low miles and knew that it would be a nearly new bike. I couldn't resist and had to add it to the Firebolt. Then came the S2, Curves is all I can say. Afterall a guy can't have too many motorbikes.
|
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
Do a little more "Sustaining Engineering", which means provide fixes for those problems that continue on out of production bikes. Tube Frame front isolator as an example. As long as the bikes are still out there and replaced parts keep failing it will continue to give the brand a bad name. I hate seeing that happen to such a storied company.

Life History/Philosophy: |
Be flexible, that way you don't get bent out of shape.
|
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): |
Faster than I know better.
|
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): |
The slick kind, sort of like the Mobil 1 stuff.
