I noticed the topic changed while I was in Fairbanks getting my bike, but I thought I'd say hello and share my COMPLETE JOY with you guys! I picked up my Blast on Friday, rode home on Saturday, went back up the road on Sunday, and went on my first solo ride Monday. 767 miles later, I am back at work. I can't believe how much fun my bike is! I had a 400 mile ride home on Saturday and still wasn't ready for bed! |

Enjoy AkGirl. if this is your first bike it's the one you'll judge all others against. Have fun! BTW - before Blake has to step in maybe we should post on the General Discussion board since this isn't about personal profiles anymore. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/board.html That or the Blast board since you're riding the newest model Buell: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/board.html |

Lurked for a bit, thought I should introduce myself. Jim Barbero IT Technician Cheyenne, Wyoming Been riding since I was 8, had everything from a 49cc moped to a 77 GoldWing, but most miles were put on Seca's and Viragos. Most recently was wearing out my 750 Virago (80k miles), and decided that I really did not like the new v-stars as well. So I Looked around and decided that the Blast was really comfortable for me, and the type of riding I do right now (50 mile highway trips at most, 100-200 miles a week - don't need mega CC's for that) a 4 year old keeps the high mileage trips down but he will get older and start riding more (he already loves it, just is only good around town right off) Going to keep it stock through the warrany, but may modify it some after that. Anyway, Rambled enough Jim Barbero 2001 Blast |

I have been riding on dirt for a long time, and just got a blast! about 3 months ago as my first bike. so far Ive put almost 2400 miles on it with no problems. I am hoping to get a cyclone next year and keep the blast! for riding to work. The only thing better than owning a buell is owning two.(maybe Ill quit buying old Jeeps)-not likely. Matt Taylor black 2001 blast! |

Hi all....My name is Dave and I live in Ontario, Canada. I've been lurking here for a while. This board is a great source of info! I'm new to Buell but not motorcycling. I've been riding 19 of my 30 years. Everying from motorcross and trials to sportbikes and cruisers. I just purchased a 2001 X1. Next to my Montesa trials bike, its the most fun I've had on two wheels. |

Jim, Matt and Dave: WELCOME ABOARD and outta lurk-dom! I love seeing the new names and it sounds like (the use of words like "old jeeps", "Montesa" and "everything from a 49cc" reveal you are in GREAT company. One of the most salient features you will find among this crowd, regardless of age, is that the Buell Motorcycle seems to be the nucleus of this group but there are so many OTHER neat common traits. We're glad to have you here. I've been riding Buells since about 1989 and my fascination continues to grow. The bike is one of the most rewarding experiences to ride but it's so much more than that. Since Indy racer Danny Sullivan bought his RR-1000 Buell have always attracted wonderful peopel who''s first concern is not "who's fastest?". In the last 7 years, I've had the pleasure to have ridden Buells in 44 states and met just a snaggle over 3,500 of these folks. You are in good company. You will find this board a GREAT source of information. Harley-Davidson is still struggling to figure out how to get dealers to pay the proper respect and provide the proper level of service to Buells and Buell customers. This board will provide a venue for you to learn about dealers, programs and "fixes". Trsut me, some of the guys and gals (Pammy) here are some of the best mechanics I have ever seen. Finally....then you can take a breath.....We've made many freindships here. Again, the common (most of us seem to be geeks and gearheads...wanna know what's inside your hard drive or how to design a RCCD compliant network...I am sorry to report that if you ask here you'll likely get some excellent info) thing among those who hang out here is "passion". We've banded together to do things like the "TEAM ELVES" effort wherein one of our members bought an "old" Buell RR-1000 #50 and we set out to prove a little lesson to BMW, Moto Guzzi and the World. Again WELCOME ABOARD...we are pleased to have you! Court Canfield |

Court, Thanks for the greeting. The reason I lurked was to get the general feel for the board before joining. It seems to me that it is most importantly a friendly group that has a common bond. And the friendly part is important (in reference to your respect comment). I showed up to a local group here in WY, and although I was welcome because I had an "american bike", but my wife who rides a suzuki gs500e was asked to not bring it and ride behind me as it "looked bad". Needless to say, she is more important to me than any group. Jim |

unbelievable that this still happens. Only once did I have a HD swine tell me to move my rice burner. Too bad for him we were in a gravel parking lot! |
