I was on the Blue Ridge Parkway on my (highly modified and lowered) Dyna Wide Glide going through the twisties and a pickup pulled up behind me (pulling a trailer no less!). He stayed right on my a** and when I would try to loose him, I would scrape hard parts and throw sparks on every corner. I finally gave up and just pulled over (a very low moment). I decided right then that I needed something with more performance. I was considering a Ducati or maybe a Triumph Speed Triple. I had seen a friend of mine do wheelies on a Buell (which was very cool) so when I got back to Texas I went to the dealership and test drove one. I blew off the test rides on the Duck and the Triumph and bought my molten orange X1 the same day. The bike is great. I wish there were more turns in southeast Texas. Stats: 41, Married 15 years (4 kids) riding bikes for 30 years or so (various sizes and types). Bowhunt and workout. Still have the Wide Glide. Occupation: Offshore Oil Industry. X1 has dealer installed race kit. | ||

I have been following this page since August and have gotten some great feedback from fellow riders. I have a Buell Blast and just relocated from CA to CT. It is rather icy riding right now but I am looking for anyone who is in the area who would like to show me the good rides. I have to get my bike filled with oil and the tail light repaired after the move as well, so any advice on mechanics would be appreciated. I have been riding since July and have done about 200 miles a week on Sundays since. I adore riding and can't wait for the thaw here. I am in East Hampton living by a lake. | ||

I cut my teeth doing many projects in Overland Park and Olathe for 20 years. Now it's tunnels in Atlantic City and Intelligent Transportation Systems Systems (automated incident detectin & management)in NYC. Tripper, There are two reasons the bridges are falling down: 1.) Not everyone rides a motorcycle. So the live loads from traffic and the number of vehicles are a lot higher than originally estimated. Both individually and total. 2.) Like most things, they aren't replaced on schedule and are probably still in place lonn after their original design life. We need more Civil Engineers to ride motorcycles and less politicians to have pork barrel projects. Our infrastructure is getting worse everyday. Look at the mess with powerplants in CA. Thats about making as much profit as possible now and not planning, or ignoring, future needs. Same for bridges, highways etc. Oops. See what you did, you got me on my soapbox. As least I rode ChiChi (S2) today, saved a little of that highway for another day. (Don't even get me started on the relative salaries of engineers and the service they provide) Have you hugged your engineer today? Blake, do me a favor and move or delete this. Sorry, I do not build bridges and I have no control over civil engineers. I am an architectural engineer, so that means buildings only. Sorry I'm glad to find some KC people.
