Hey,

I am also NEW to the site and quite excited to be a part of the Buell family. I just purchased my baby boy on 6/21/06. He is great and I have just started to break him out a little bit. I will add a pic once I remember to bring my camera with me when I take him out. BTW, he is a Black '06 Buell Blast and I took him on the back roads the other day. It is my first time riding other than the course and I am so excited. I remembered to always use my signals and did the turns well and constantly looked in the mirrors. I actually had the bike up to "oh my god" should I dare say it "40" that's right... I am a dare devil. "Watch-out" ha ha ha Well, it was great chatting hope to hear from people every now and then.

Hello to all,
This site is an awesome idea and I’m quite surprised there are not more postings from more people.
My wife and I will soon both be riding and have some questions about what to buy. I personally have years of experience riding in the city and highway (and dirt for that mater) but not on anything like a Buell. My wife has never ridden (except on back) and will be a newbie. I have a powerful urge and am strongly compelled to purchase a XB12S. I think I’m ready. What to do for the wife remains a question. Can a Blast roll comfortably with a 12S? I don’t want to discourage her early. She will be taking a Michigan State riders course for beginners in September. This is our angle to start to get to know you all. Thanks in advance for all your help and worldly advice.

Simplyfab -
I'm still pretty new myself. It's funny how everything feels fast at first, then you look at the speedo and realize you're slowing everybody down at 40 in in the 45.

It won't be too long until you look at the speedo you're scared you'll attract the attention of law enforcement. The Buell's a real confidence builder.

Gottahavabuell -
I took the Harley class (Gilbert's HD in port huron) on a blast and it was great. Everyone gets their own bike so you have a lot more time. The instructors also teach the state classes. When a lot of the class had trouble with an exercise they mentioned a benefit of the Harley class is that they can hang back and work on it some more. With the state class they would have to keep going for a tighter schedule.

Of course if she's already committed to the state course I'm sure that'll be fine. She has you for help, right?

Readxb - check the Knowledge Vault. More information has been posted in there than anywhere else, and you can usually gather information pertinent to you by perusing through it. The search function is great if you're looking for something specific, but you may be better off poking around the KV to figure out how things are laid out. With a little time it's not too difficult to navigate. It'll also give you a feel for what stuff should get posted there vs the other spots.

That being said, first mods for performance would be a pipe...match it with better filter and intake (see American Sport Bike for an intake kit). You can either add a Power Commander or depending on what you get Al might be able to get you an updated ECM (we have the technology).

If you want to call and discuss options and recommendations, Al at American Sport Bike or Dave at Appleton are you best bets - take a look in the sponsor section for their info.

Hi all, brand new (lady) rider, brand new 2005 Blast (just 230 miles so far) and I'm having a great time learning and riding. I'm commuting to work, riding for fun on weekends. I'm out in northern CA near Sacramento. Looking forward to listening to all you more experienced riders talk about things like tire pressure, mpg and changing oil. Cheers!

Thanks everyone for taking time to say "hello". Welcome to our little community of Buell enthusiasts.

Bill,
Very sorry to hear about your injury. You will likely have much better luck selling your Uly if you can post an ad to the classifieds "Bikes for Sale" page. : )

Nickle,
It's apparent from your picture that you are a man who does some serious riding. Would be great to hear about some of your more adventuresome two-wheeled treks. Nice looking S3T too. : )

Simplyfab & Dakini_grl,
Sure is great to have more lady Buellers represented here. It would be very interesting to hear a lot more about your new rider experiences and unique perspectives as you get better acquainted with the sport and your bikes. : )

Thanks Brian. All the great folks here are what make the place so likeable. Outstanding photo! It made me lean over to the right and almost fall off of my chair. LOL Welcome to the asylum, you look like you'll fit right in. : )

Readxb,
You'll get a much better response to questions if you post them to the most applicable subtopic in the "Knowledge Vault". If you ask me though, I'd suggest a couple track day schools and some time spent learning and setting up your suspension before making any performance upgrades to the engine. It's the best money I ever spent on performance enhancement for me and my motorcycle. : )

Blake, although it may seem that way, it's not...

Just kidding Nickle : )

We were on our way back from a rally when we snapped that pic (I took it)...you'll notice on the right side of his picture that little black thing? It's the back of my wife's trailer:

It's not uncommon for us to go 300+ miles on Friday, camp for the weekend, then 300+ miles home Sunday.

Luckily I got my riding philosophy from Nickle and not my dad...don't get me wrong, my dad likes to ride, but he's more fair weather oriented.

Bikes are meant to be ridden, as often and as long as you possibly can...

Hello everyone... I found this site while searching for a solution to my wifes problems with finding a sportbike that suits her short stature... We have always liked Buells & felt they had a certain coolness to them that no other sportbike had (we are Harley fans too, so that might have something to do with it)...

After realizing that Buells have the lowest seat height of any sport bike available my wife got really excited ( it gave her an excuse to fore-go the Jap crap & she has now decided she wants a Buell!!!!

Funny thing is, so do I!!! lol.... Anyway, just wanted to take the time to officially introduce myslef to the board & to thank the folks who helped me with my first ever question and thread topic... I am a member of alot of boards ( most are non cycle related) and this place has to be one of the friendliest ones out there... I think I found a new home! : )

New Buell owner ....I always loved the V-twin, but couldn't see myself on a Harley.
Then a few years ago I was stuck on the 10 Fwy in traffic, I heard a HD coming up behind me.... I was picturing this big nasty hog, just then it pulled up beside me...I was awestruck, there was this really nice looking bike with a Harley motor. Ever since then I have wanted one. Man this thing is the bomb! A wheelie machine.
Are there any Tucson Az Buellers out there?

Hello fellow enthusiasts. I just bought an '05 XB12R (my first Buell) and am completely in love with it. I have been riding for 14+ years on nothing but Japanese crotch rockets and wanted to start really carving up the corners. I've wanted a Firebolt since a friend of mine "walked away" from me in the twisties while I was riding my Ninja. He was saying how effortless it is and so smooth. So I bought one with 500 miles on it.

I've not had it a week yet and rode with some friends yesterday on crotch rockets and blew them out of the corners without really even trying (still getting used to the bike, throttling, gears, etc...). When we finally stopped (22 miles later), they were blasting me about riding that fast on a bike which I am not completely familiar with and told me to take it easy. I told them that I was taking it easy which I honestly was!! I felt that I was really part of the bike but still "left some cards on the table" while riding through the canyons. I have yet to get the bike completely dialed in with my weight, riding style, etc... I can't imagine how much more I can do after that happens!!

Anyway, their mouths dropped when I had told them I was riding fairly conservatively (considering how hard we usually ride on the rockets). Of course, all five of them (2 GSXR's, 1 ZX-10R, and an R1) wanted to trade bikes for the ride home through the canyon. What would you have done having just gotten your first XB????...................... Yeah, I did the same thing and "walked away" from them all the way home.

PS To give credit where credit was due, they caught up to me on the straights. Oh well.

Jlnace, I myself am saving for a XB12r firebolt... The wife is wanting the same thing, but the 9r instead, and hers will need to have the suspension swapped out for the XB9sl low... We wont have them til next summer, but atleast we now know that we can get a firebolt to fit her (which works for us, because we feel that no other bike has the cool factor that a Buell has)

Hey gang, great site here. I just bought an '04 XB12s and, like everyone else, am totally in love. I recently sold my chopper and bought this bike thinking I was going to use it as a donor for another one. No way that's happening now!

Hello everyone,
I am from Moscow, Russia and seem to be the only Buell Blast owner in the city! A queer but definitely very pleasant feeling.
Hardly anyone here knows what to do with the device in terms of maintenance but I hope things will change for the better really soon now that I HAVE my Blast : )
Besides, it is my first bike and to top it off I am a girl so would be really glad to get some valuable advice every now and then...

Hello fellow Buellers:
Purchased a 06' Firebolt in May, this is the most fun street bike I have ever owned (35 yrs of motorcycling). Why can't more bikers see the "light" and check these bikes out? The information and knowledge on this site is fantastic. Glad to be a member of the Buell family.

Yo.
Just found this site after a family member mentioned it randomly in an email. So I thought I would check it out. Great site so far...
I recently purchased a leftover '05 XB12s and I have a couple of questions brewing around in my head: namely, in your guys's opinions, whats the best looking/performing/all around full faced helmet out there?
Umm... got some other ones too, but i forget what they were. Anyway, here is a picture:

See you guys on the boards and on the roads...

Hello all!

Just thought i'd drop a note, as I've been lurking for several weeks.

I'm a professional computer geek, and just picked up my first Buell- an '06 XB12R, black and yellow. Still stock for the moment, but the week is young yet.

I'm in the Bryan/College Station area (Central Texas)

Great site you have here! I'm really enjoying both the people and the tremendous amount of good information.
