Ian - Welcome to Badweb and congrats on the bike.

I don't think it should be as cold blooded as you describe. Mine will occasionally stall when you idle it cold. But it sounds like yours is cutting off while you're riding?

There is a lot of wisdom on this board. We will get you fixed up. Look around the knowlege vault section, and you might start a thread in the XB section. It will get more attention there.

Hi all...I have been a frequent visitor to this site for YEARS! I have been a fan of Buell since the RR 1000 first appeared and I saw one at Harley-Davidson of Dallas. I have owned a 1996 S-1 (simply one of Erik's best, IMHO) X-1(lot's of problems with this one) an S-3T (great bike that I rode from Dallas to Milwaukee for the 100th in 2003, where were the rest of ya??) and now an RS 1200 which I have always wanted to own. I had the pleasure to work part time at an H-D dealer that had Buell for several years and I received my Buell training at Milwaukee and East Troy in 1998. I'm looking forward to getting my time machine on the road....Chris

Hey all. I have been lurking for tech info for a couple years now, but thought I'd start trying to find some riding partners. Have owned a 2000 Blast (learned how to ride on this), 2001 Cyclone (still have it), a 1980ish K1000 beemer during a brief period that I was stranded in San Diego, a 2005 Blast (bought it here in Hawaii for the gas mileage - $3/gallon!), and looking to trade that for a Ulysses so I can go off roading here on Oahu and on the other islands when the ferry service starts.

The Cyclone, which is still on the mainland, and I are taking a no-interstate trip from Kansas City to Seattle to San Fran and back, via all the national parks and twisty mountain backroads along the way, if anyone is interested.

Hello all, I've been lurking here for a couple of months, waiting until I got my new Uly home before I surfaced. Great group you have here. I rode my Uly home from the dealership with temp in the low teens last night (appox. 5 miles) and couldn't believe how well the hand gaurds deflect the wind. I'm waiting for the taller windsheild and side bags to come in. I really missed my FLHT as I rode off but forgot all about it by the time I got home. I went to my monthly winter H.o.G. meeting and was met with "you traded for a what?" I can't wait to get this thing broke in. I feels like great bike. Sorry to ramble but I'm having fun!

I want to thank Pete at HD/Buell Stone Mountain for getting me on my first Buell. I rode in on a Strom and out on a Uly for that long 300 mile ride home in the rain and cold. Just glad it didn't snow. My first impression of the Buell-Perfect! I have had some bad experiences at a dealership or two in FL that had that very "it's either a HD or nothing" mentality, but could not have been more happy with my buying experience. Light-years ahead of my experience at the UJM dealerships. It was tough taking it easy, but did my best to vary the speeds and watch my rpm's. I was shocked to see the manuals break-in guidance. Don't go over 2500 rpms for the first fifty miles, but don't lug the engine either. Hmmm, not sure how to do that. I'd like to hear anyones thoughts on the philosophy of riding your bike some what aggressively during the break-in. Some feel it is actually better for the bike.
Enjoy and look forward to seeing you out there!

Hello all, I have been a fan of Buell bikes since they came out with the XB9.Only problem was I'm 6' 4" tall and found the XB9 to be a "little" on the small side for me.I've been waiting for a larger sized XB ever since. I saw the Uly in person for the first time yesterday.(Wausau dealer)WHAT a bike....fit me like a glove!!! Now I just need to find a way to get her home.Reading all the info I can find about the Uly. Found this site and decided to pull up a chair.

hello all - name's esau - holding it down for the major kansas city area [shawnee mission for the locals]

i've always been a eastern bike owner [f4, hayabusa, r1]

i'm coming home so to speak, buying a buell just don't know which one

all signs point to a tuber - the '98 s1w or '02 x1w are tops on the list

i love the orange and grey of the '02 m2 - and i'm sure the motor can be massaged to hell and back 3 times over : )

anyone in the kc area selling a tuber?

welp just wanted to say hello to all!

-sau

Hi all,

I just picked up a new XB12X, and I'm looking forward to racking up some miles in the coming months.

I've been riding since I was 12 on Japanese and European bikes, and roadracing for the past five seasons (LRRS EX #29), but the Ulysses is my first brand new street bike.

I'm really impressed with the engineering on the XBs, and I'm also really impressed by the knowledge on this forum. Just wanted to say hi, and apologize in advance if this Buell novice asks a lot of dumb questions in the near future!

John D.
