Bought an 05 xb9sx city in feb. It's my first bike ever and i'm so glad I chose Buell. Typically I put on a back-pack with a couple changes of clothes and head to the mountains of NC for days. I go where the twisty's take me from one cheap motel to the next. I just can't get enough. So far I've done 9,200 mi.

Engaged?. . . that is an inaccurate statement.

But . . . . you are HOME. I've been riding Buells for just shy of 20 years and I'm thrilled to let you know you've found the single source for some pretty darn good information.

Better, yet. . . you've found the place you'll meet some of the most amazing people, Buell fans as well, you've ever met. Don't be surprised to meet some one you work with or that lives close to you.

We're thrilled to have you here.

Welcome aboard. . . now hold on!

I just wanted to say hi. I have been reading a while though. I have been itching for a buell since I test rode a 01 X1 lightning. I am finally at a place where I can afford one and I'm told they won't have an 06 xb12s until early next year. A few months won't hurt I guess.

Have followed Buells with pleasure since Eric was building a few a month in his Mukwanago garage and active ownership since 1993. Am now selling a white '91 RSS 1200 in excellent condition which has been highly modified for speed and improved durability by Tom Anglim of Buell R&D in East Troy. Asking $7500 OBO. I've been told this is one of 200 made. About 17K miles before complete rebuild, about 2.5K miles since. Fast. Interesting history subject of article in Battle2Win. I rode this bike extensively in the Pacific NW and southern CA, logging a number of 700+ mile days. Currently live in Milwaukee, WI. Will post flyer soon. See attatchment for flyer with pix. I see some familiar names on this board. Haven't been around for awhile, since I sold my 98 S1W 5-6 years ago. Fortunately for me, I sold it to a buddy of mine who to date has not put 5000 miles on it. I miss the beast, the growl, the grunt and the hooliganism it brings out in me. I've made an offer to get her back and put her back in the stable, now currently filled with a couple of dirt bikes and a trials bike.

I'll keep you posted....

I'm a guy who likes (and needs) LOTS of saddle time. 1) My MANTRA is: Live life to the full, even if you get some on ya, and 2)my motto is: Put at least 13 lbs. of fun into a 10 lb. sack each and every day. I seek out the boonie roads. Some gravel's OK. Been riding older Beemer twins to get lots of wheel turns for the $. I have two 88 R100 GSs. Then early in 05 my eyes caught a sweet looking S3 on the floor at SPHD. Silver, no chrome, Corbin, small bags, RACE KIT. Got talking to Brad and he was generous with info and time and I got interested. We made a deal - based on a satisfactory test ride. Good thing I took it out for more than the recommended 20 minutes or it would have ended right there. Then I got it out on MY roads and it started doing my tune. Two good seasons on it and its about perfect. THEN, someone showed me the new Uly on the web. OK, seemed like it had potential. Then I read the Cycle World road test and thought it had my name on it. Got my Ulysses on 9/24 - had the 1100 mile service a week later. Now its COLD here in N. Illinois. They're all parked. The Uly has 4K on it and I LOVE IT. LOVE the S3 too but think it'll have to go. I'd like $4700 for it and should anyone be interested call me at 815-772-4428. Its ready for a tirp to anywhere or just lots of miles OUT THERE on the range. I wanted at least one Harley motor under me before I went but couldn't get excited about any H.D. Hadn't I tried the S3, I probably wouldn't have plunged for the Uly. We've bonded and how. Never rode anything like it and I'm sold on the Buells. Hope this wasn't too long - just had to share and say HI. JustBob

New owner of a 2000 X-1 Lightning, living in El Paso. My other ride for the last four years is a 2000 Kawasaki ZRX-1100. Bought the X-1 off an Iranian "diamond merchant" in LA and brought it home. Trying to get it to be a safe ride, non-leaky, and legal on the road by Christmas.

New to this site. Surfed in while looking for Buell info, looks like I struck it rich. Great site! Got to have a Buell this coming spring. Need info on North East Ohio Buell dealerships. Which ones to stay away from, best service, best Buell attitude. Excellent site!

No problem Ronco. A lot of those riders hail from the North Coast and should be able to fill you in on dealers in the area.

Well... I've lurked long enough - time to say 'hello'.
A year ago - there I was, happy with my Sportster. Then I saw a '99 Carbon Fiber X1 on ebay. Thought - geez, bet that looks good in the sunlight. Next day, I thought 'I didn't bid on that X1, did I?' (beer was involved). Yes, I did, and yes I won. So, the sickness began..... Now, One year later, I can say 'I saw the light', and it reads 'BUELL'.
Anyhows - great site, seem to be alot of good people, and lots of info here. I will be here often.

Hotrats (andyh),

I sure guess you've 'seen the light' as your profile lists 3 Buell's. Welcome from a fellow NC Bueller - I'm in New Bern. If you are looking for some (kinda) local Buell banter, look here. It's the Carolina Corner Carvers (C-3) BRAG section in the Storm Fronts. The conversation lately has been around some computing issues, but usually it is normally just typical Buell madness stuff. One of the other C-3 members (M2nc) and I were up in Hillsville (I believe) Virginia late this summer for a weekend, which I think is not very far from you. So some of us may be in your area at times too.

Sorry to ramble, just wanted to welcome you to badweb!

1313,
Thanks for the welcome. I didn't intend to have 3... I guess just middle age crazy did it. I will check out the C-3 section. Hillsville is about 60-70 miles from me - alot of good riding roads between here and there.
If you make it up around Eden - let me know, I'll buy you a beer.
I'm new and really only lurked until now - but I like it here.

you have a great site, I am waiting for my 06 xb12r to arrive, so i checked out your site many times to read up on the products,I have liked the buell bikes since seeing a fully faired rr back in 89, but other bikes have gotten in the way (harley's, import sportbikes, dirtbikes.) I have ridden most of my life, (I am 37) but now its time for a buell... why does everyone compare the buell to a GSX-R1000? the are built for different types of riding .one is only for winning races, the other for everyday riders, most riders never ride more than 8/10s of a gsxr anyway. (i am sure to get heat for that!) the buell is a better all-around bike that can hang with the best in the twisties....thanks

Hey to everyone. I am riding a stock 2005 XB12Scg, my second Buell. This first was an very modified XB9SL. I'm short, so I need the lower bike. The stock Scg is still too tall. Thought I would love the new one after the 9S, but I was wrong, I just like it. Went to Biketoberfest this past Oct and fell in love with the modified Hayabusa's. Would love to have one. I plan on making the token mods to the 12Scg as I can afford them. IRS has decided that I owe them a bunch of money (LOL). All the neat stuff is SO expensive. Wish Eric had done something about the heat, seat, fairings, windshield, size, power, stiff clutch and throttle, etc, etc, etc. I downsized from a Heritage Softail Classic, btw. I am definitely enjoying reading the articles on this website.}}

Almost embarrassed to admit that I did not know this site existed!!!!
After about a dozen bikeless years (owned some mid sized Honda/Yamaha "sport bikes") I'm proud to say that I logged in my first season with my 2003 xb9r. Was shopping around in the Fall '04 thinking that maybe a used something or other would be cool, when I spot this baby at Freedom HD in Ottawa....and thought Wow!! long story short, after it suddenly disappeared from the floor, it was all my wife could do to keep the surprise till Christmas.....
there aren't that many buells on the road here in the Ottawa area (which kinda sucks but I love watching folks doing a double take with that "what the heck is that?" look on their face....).
anyway, I'm glad that I found this site....plan to spend some quality time here....
If anyone visits the Ottawa Ontario Canada area, drop me a line - we'll get out for a spin!! lots o' nice back roads!!
