Hey all, I joined the site a month or so ago, and I got my XB9R in August. I had to leave it behind a week later to finish my year long assignment in Diego Garcia with the Navy. I'll be home this weekend and be racking up the miles given the weather isn't too crappy....James

HELP. I cant stop reading these postings. Between getting the bike and staying on this websight my wife may divorce me. In all seriousness, this websight is top notch. The people I have met in my short time here and the knowledge I have gained are invaliable. Thanks again for welcoming me with open arms and I look forward to seeing you all on the road in the near future.

Read the posts AFTER she goes to sleep. If the computer's in the bedroom, move it. If that doesn't work, try mixing a nice strong drink for her "because she's had a hard day". After she's out you can log on. Don't ask me how I know these things.

Hello,

New to this site, (awesome) have always admired Buells. Have found 2000 Cyclone M2 that interests me, and would like to ask what problem spots I should look for. From some of the online research I've done I understand there were some issues with exhaust crack due to vibration, also a recall on front forks. More info regarding these and/or other issues is greatly appreciated.

Also what fixes, factory upgrades are there for these.

Any assistance/advice/comments are welcome.

Thanx & ride safe.

Cali;
For a complete rundown check the KV (Knowledge Vault)...there's a section on recalls/service info, etc.
But...in a nutshell...
* Make sure you have the newer style exhaust hanger. The old one will crack the forward mount, if not cracked already.
* Make sure you have the upgraded rear shock. This is evident by a small black canister clamped on top of the shock at the front plumbed in with a couple of hoses.
* Closely inspect the rear isolators for damage/separation. This is an expensive fix if done by a dealer.
* The Buell race kit is the cat's pajamas for this bike. Consider getting it if not installed.
* If you don't have the new-style primary chain tensioner, get it...before the old one breaks. It will.
* If sticking with the stock Helmholtz box (air box) upgrade to the K&N filter. If sticking with the stock CV carb, upgrade the pilot jet to a 45 or 48, depending on what your bike prefers. The Thunderslide kit makes a HUGE difference, but for twice what you'd pay for the kit you can get a Mikuni HSR42, which runs circles around a stock CV.
* Consider a free-flowing exhaust. The Buell race exhaust is the hot ticket, but if staying with the stock header there are several good cans out there; Vance & Hines, D&D and SuperTrapp (Buell Pro Series slip on) among others.
* There are plenty of aftermarket cams for this bike as well, depending on your needs. The stock cams do quite well for low-end grunt and gobs of torque, but there are cams out there that'll run rings around them (admittedly while sacrificing some lower RPM grunt for fatter mid-range performance.) Ask me and I'll tell ya, otherwise I won't bore you with my stories.
* Switch to 10R12 plugs if the 6R12's are still installed.
* Install the Buell Pro Series plug wires.
* Spend a lot of time getting lost in the KV. Read Aaron's dyno charts and some of the posts and you'll find many of your questions answered before you ask them. The M2 is an incredible machine and you'll probably fall in love with it like I did. Good luck!

Cali;
You're welcome!
First: Register. It's quick, easy, painless, and you can post your questions in the appropriate threads. Not everybody reads the guest book very often, myself included. I'm sure you'll have lots of questions and there are lots of people here with answers!
Second, did you connect on the M2? Just curious.
Third, remind me to tell you about cams...

I have been a long-time lurker and finally decided to say Hi.
I am from Quebec Canada but my new-to-me XB9S is in FL at my dad's home. This way I can extend my riding season

Ride on!

Hello,

Ken from www.kenscustomlights.com
I have been doing research and gathering information about the BUELL Tail lights. Some folks from your site have been e-mailing me requesting for LED kits. I have some available for the Buells now and will have the entire line shortly. Please e-mail me directly for a club discount. sales@kenscustomlights.com

Go to the Hooters on Wednesday Nite at around 6 pm.

It's in front of the Speedway I believe.

Another place to find buellers will be the Buell Demo Ride Truck. Hang out there long enough and you'll run into a bunch of us.

Inside the speedway will also be a good place to find Buellers, March 5-6 during the FUSA event and on the 12th for the Daytona 200.

Jose

Figured this would be a good place to say "Hi". New to the forum, new to Buell and new to m/cing.

Have less than 100mi on my "new" 2004 XB12R, but loving it. Much better than the 125cc Hyosung I learned to ride on in Korea.

I look forward to reading more from folks with more m/c and Buell experience than I.
Thanks for having this site.
