We will meet at Temecula Quaid at 8:30 for a ride briefing at 9:00 and onto the road. Sparky has put together a great route for us. Basically it makes a counter-clockwise loop through the Temecula Valley via Rancho California Rd, Railroad Canyon, Ortega, either Killen or Clinton Keith, Los Gatos, Carancho, Deluz and Rancho California back to Temecula Quaid. Filomena, the sales manager at Temecula Quaid, will have cold drinks and raffle prizes waiting for us on our return. Temecula Quaid opens at 10:00 AM on Sunday; take that into consideration so that you can arrive with an empty bladder and a full tank of gas. The ride is about 100 miles in length. The route is divided at the Lookout rest stop on Ortega Highway into an experienced level Adventure Route and an easy Killen Bypass Route. The Experienced section is the Killen Trail, a 19 mile paved road which includes 10 miles of one-lane, slow speed 1st through 3rd gear trek through the Cleveland Forest. It starts out fairly normal and twisty for the first 9 miles then gets twistier, narrower, and steeper. The Easy (but still challenging) section goes back from the Lookout to Clinton Keith Rd and picks up the tail end of Killen when it gets out of the forest. If you have any questions, email or call me. /bkb Barbara K. Beauchamp 760-438-9097 home 619-553-4502 work
