Who, what, where, when , why, how. Okay, now somebody else can fill in all the details. And remember someone has already started a music section on here someplace.

I just heard that the dates are mid august(WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT,JUST AFTER I PICKED JUNE VACATION TIME FROM WORK) to give Buellers a chance to hit Harley Homecoming(?) also.I hope we don't get lost in the shuffle.I for one want our event to keep its own identity.FMJ.

Jim,

I sure hope you are wrong about August instead of June. AMA Superbike at Elkhart Lake is June 8-10, and I would want to come out for that. I wouldn't want to come out for a Harley convention in mid August, with 100,000 people taking all the hotel/motel rooms.

August instead of June for Homecoming. We had a discussion last night in Sacramento on why the reason for the change of dates that may or may not be considered.

June is sometimes a rainy month in Wisconsin.

August is usually drier.

June is the month before the usual new model year introductions in July. Stuff is usually covered up with blue tarps in the factory.

August would be the month after new products are introduced. Guess what may be coming along in July 2001 - The 2002 bikes. Factory tours of new bikes being made.

August would be a great time to show them off to the Buell Evangelists. Take some rides, send out the message that Buell is back in the game.

August might be a good choice for Homecoming after all.

According to the BRAG newsletter/flyer I just got today, the 2001 Homecoming is scheduled for August 29 - September 2nd. Same time as the HOGfest/rally. Hotel info will be released in the next newsletter.
Reading the flyer it sounds like there will be Buell events separate from HOG events, outside of Milwaukee, but it also sort of hints that there will be cojoined events as well.
This could get interesting.

Uh, I just had a thought, is that also Labor Day weekend????? This could get real interesting. Thousands of H-D riders, hundreds of Buell riders, and many thousands of tourists on the last 3-day weekend of the summer before school starts. All I can say is I'm glad I'm currently a local.

It would be very unfortunate if it was held Labor Day weekend.

Yep, the 8/29 - 9/2 dates cover the Labor Day holiday w/e. Labor Day is 9/3 next year.

I was planning and looking forward to this (my first) Homecoming. It will indeed be crowded. Not just in the Milwaukee area but on the roads to and from. Jim, your point is well taken for why the change may have been made.

I hope that isn't the same timeframe as the Wisconsin State Fair.

Hope to meet many of you there.

For those that haven't reveived their BRAG/Fuell newsletter yet, here's the link to the host hotel. It's right on hwy67, just south of where hwy16 disappears into Oconomowoc, a little north of I-94.

A few short (often patrolled) twisties just across hwy67. And Oconomowoc has a decent lakefront behind the Police station with plenty of public parking and a small free boatlaunch onto the smaller of several lakes in the area. See my profile pic for a fuzzy shot of the frozen lake.

Hello hello hello
Time to freshen this up some. Anybody planning on making it to the Homecoming? Will you need any local transportation assistance to/from the airport? Need local maps or tips? Anybody shipping their bikes in this year to a local dealership like last year?

Seems like there are a few more options in this summer's schedule. Only 5 months to go, but so much other stuff to do between now and then.

My husband and I are traveling the Lower 48 this summer and I REALLY want to attend some of the Homecoming events. I won't have my Blast with me since we'll traveling in a motorhome. Would it be worth attending without my bike? Sounds like the traffic will be insane. How about parking? Do I dare drive the RV anywhere near the area?

Akgirl,

There are some state parks in the area, plus there is an RV park at or right next door to the Homecoming host hotel/resort. I can go by there tonight and get contact info and post it later this evening.

Two things that might make this year's "event" more congested:
1) the 3-day weekend.
2) the H.O.G. ralley.

The HOG ralley often fills up all the local hotels clear out into the outlaying areas.

If it were me driving down from AK in an RV, I'd mount some racks on the bumper and bring the bikes, or tow a trailer, or take off the handlebars and shoehorn the bike inside the motorhome. You will want a bike when you get here, and the Blast should be okay for two-up riding around the region.

There is also the possibility of some limited bike rentals from some of the local dealers. Also Buell may hopefully have their demo fleet or Blast loaners out again like they did at times last year, don't know for certain about that though.

Anyway, I'll post later anything I find out about RV parks in Oconomowoc. Oh, and last year or the year before they opened up the Waukesha county fairgrounds for HOG ralley participant camping, turned it into a huge tent/RV mini-city, but again I don't know if they'll do that this year.

It may be more populated down here, but you'll do fine in the RV.

Akgirl,
I finally got over to the host resort. The woman at the registration desk said you could park the RV in their parking lot. There wouldn't be any electrical hookups or water connections. I asked if you were registered for the event if you'd have to have a room to park the RV there, and she said nope, according to her if you are attending the Homecoming event you could stay in your RV in the parking lot. Hope this helps some in your planning. Olympia Resort

Sharing A Room-
Anyone interested in sharing a room at the Olympia Resort? I have one reserved for the whole BRAG event, from Wednesday through Saturday nights. I'm riding in from California just like last year.

I plan on camping.I'm waiting on a brochure from Country View Campground in Mukwonago,Wi.It seems to be the most centrally located campground,to the events listed for Homecoming.
Will post more info when I get it.

Mike

Say...wasn't the first Buell "Factory" in Mukwonago?

Anyone interested in riding to Viola to visit S&S?

I'll be in Milwaukee on the 29th.

Viola would make a good side trip for the day Sauk hosts the festivities. S&S is about 70 miles from Sauk City, and right in some of the prime riding region out that way. I can see heading out to S&S in the morning, then hitting Sauk Prairie H-D/Buell in the afternoon. Make for a nice day's ride.

What day is the Sauk Prairie activity?

PS I see you are local to the area and must know the roads...

Jose-

The Saux Prarie activities are on Thursday. Look at the BMC website for a complete list of Homecoming week activities.
