Well Blake, With Texas being the second largest consumer of Spam per person in the country, you should rather enjoy it : ) Hawaii being the first in the most Spam consumed per person. Texas takes it for most spam consumed by State...

Damn strait I noticed Dino! Hot! Hot! Hot!
You asked her name! You da man!
I'm still in my " woman hater after divorce stage" though.
Besides she would be WAY too high maintenance & expensive. Like trying to own a 999 in the US?

Ah right already,I give.I will mark it on the calendar for next year.BTW,I blame Court. If he had not invited me to a certain gathering of the Sopranos cast he called a wedding I would have had enough vacation.
Of,course that means Jerry has to come to Bonneville. You,know, after how many years of me asking him??

Ebear...are you suggesting that Char might take offense to my noticing said young lovely? Why, said young lovely is young enough to be my daughter...or in this case, one of my daughter's best friends! (Damn that's depressing!)

Wycked...I'd rather have a picture of the last time I saw her. She was wearing a pair of Levi's with a hole the size of Rhode Island in the derriere region...over a thong. Sigh...

One would be well advised to be, ummm, discreet in their appreciation of the young lovely in question. She's a correctional officer. Her husband, with who she was riding, is a deputy sheriff. In fact, the individuals in the group they were riding with were all LEOs.

And in answer to your question, Sleez, yes.

BTW large C-Clamps work well for bead breaking. I used to have a pair that had short sections of bent pipe that same curve as my rim. But in a pinch just plain C-Clamps work.

So, here I was, sitting around feeling sorry for myself. Oktoberfast is over for another year. All the great roads have been ridden. All the beautiful scenery has been viewed. All the good friends, new and old, have returned to their regular lives...back to the daily grind. Bummer.

Then I thought,"Wait...the great roads are still there. The scenery is still stunning. I'm still here, along with my faithful pillion, Char. The friends...well they were kinda goofy anyway." (Hey, look at the pictures above and tell me I'm wrong!) So, I figured that maybe I should take advantage of the beautiful weather and revisit a bit of the Oktoberfast route. But which part? After consultation with the faithful pillion, it was determined that we should go up to ogle and photograph the aspen changing color at Quaking Aspen up on the Mighty 190.

Our first stop served a dual purpose,(1) enjoy the scenery, (2) Let the dump truck w/ trailer and a driver that wouldn't know a turnout if it kicked him in the get the hell up the road and out of our way.

Looking down the Tule River toward the San Joaquin Valley.

Looking up the Tule from the same point. The more astute of you Oktoberfasters wills note the flume at the far left center of the picture.

Quaking Aspen. You know, I get a little leery of downsizing photos for the web when they include Char. I mean, geez, she can barely reach the passenger pegs as it is!

Quick Quiz to see if you're paying attention: What color do aspen turn in the fall?

While this ride does suffer from a dearth of BadWebbers, it would seem that we are not alone.

FB...you were impressed when Char noted that the FZ1 was centerstand equipped. I was impressed when these guys rode past and Char asked, "Was that two BMWs and a V-Strom?" Yep, it was. And a yeller Strom at that. Hard bag equipped. We were heading south from Quaking Aspen...they were heading north. A couple hours later, as we headed up Plano toward P'ville, we saw them riding south.

One more shot of the aspen, stunning. Wish y'all coulda been here!

Well, that's a few of my shots...now to go thru the 100s that the Moto Foto pillion took today!

WOW , Dino and Char !!!That last shot is an AWARD Winner!!!Very nice!!Sometimes in Colorado one side of the Q Aspen turns yellow and the other side orange. When the breeze comes up and causes the leaves to 'quiver' ,the oscillation of colours is breathtaking! Ive been trying to catch a grove of them the first couple of days they change to catch them with interspersed green leaves.Could be a "Polaroid Moment!Maybe the Big Coloradofast that TBEAR and I have been working on has a date now!Or at least a window.Keep up with those great shots!

Hmmm, Court in California for '05?! Too Cool!

FB&D are back online, after a weekend ride to Cambria that included some of the thickest fog i've encountered since moving from Washington, and just when we thought the visibility couldn't get any worse it started raining in buckets. you KNOW it's bad out when the cars on Hwy 46 were pulling over so they could follow the taillights of the two motorcycles...

(ok, further off topic for a moment: sitting in one's nicely-appointed room at a fine B&B on Moonstone Beach, in your sunken living room next to your own blazing fireplace, drinks in hand and bellies full of fresh seafood from the bar 'n grill just up the beach, the rain pounding down as you gaze out across the Pacific, the door out onto the deck wide open, even though the carpeting is getting wet, so that you can hear the roar of the surf over the sound of the rain, well, to steal yet again from Ebear, it too was suckless.)

great pix all, thanks for posting. yeah, FB left SEVERAL roads off the route - too many of the derned curvy ones around here, and not near enough daylight. maybe Oktoberfast needs to be two weeks? hmmm, maybe THAT would get Court out here??? ; )

"you KNOW it's bad out when the cars on Hwy 46 were pulling over so they could follow the taillights of the two motorcycles... "

That's why we rode on Saturday and spent Sunday working thru image files.

"maybe Oktoberfast needs to be two weeks? hmmm, maybe THAT would get Court out here???"

I sent Court some CA pixs last night...maxed out his mailbox and the last was returned. I suggested (probably in the e-mail that got bounced) that we start a "California Photo of the Month" club 'til we lure him out here again. Courting Court, so to
speak.

this idea for this weekend's ride to Cambria was hatched early last week, and of COURSE the weather was gonna be great - this IS California after all.

well, come oh-dark-thirty Saturday morning the weather guessers were seriously trying to get us to change our minds about the ride. in the end our overwhelming thirst for riding adventure prevailed.

the ride to the coast was GREAT! clear, sunny, and blue. Santa Rosa Creek Rd. (think Old Stage Rd. or Dry Creek Rd. during Oktoberfast, only ten times gnarlier), which drops off 46 near the coast and plummets for miles into Cambria's back door, was an awesome end to the riding day, and as if on cue the rain started falling JUST after we got the bikes stashed safely away at the B&B.

it rained ALL night, but mattered not a whit, adding only to the romantic atmosphere (as if it needed any help...)

Sunday morning was gray, but dry, and after breakfast we shopped in Cambria and enjoyed the hum of this cool little coastal community. spirits high, and assuming the best, we jumped on Hwy 1 down to 46 to turn inland, and then all heck broke loose. when i mentioned the cars pulling off the road so we could lead (WUSSES!!!) i wasn't kidding.

and if the fog, and then fog and rain, wasn't bad enough, it was fog and rain and wind.

still, Hwy 58 above McKittrick was as sensuous as ever, thankfully dry by the time we arrived, and washed clean by the rain. Clement writes about 58 on occasion in Rider, and it never fails to deliver. (bye bye peg feelers, lookout pegs!)

Starbucks from a bottle in McK got our energy levels back on the pipe, for the dash across the San Joaquin and up-canyon on 178 before the cold and gloom set in again.

the bikes are absolutely pitted (cleverly, i had just finished stripping and polishing the V-Strom's wheels on Thursday, in preparation for the new Metzeler Tourance's that got spooned on on Friday, and it's truly amazing how quickly the new shiny surfaces turned all powdery and chalk-like in the moist ocean air...), and our teeth were chattering upon our arrival to the 'Dome, but i THINK i can speak for both of us when i say we'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

right, Denise?

Denise???

FB...I've never been on Santa Rosa Rd., but I know of it, and Char has driven it (and says never again.) Santa Rosa leaves 46 and heads north then west to Cambria at the same point that Dry Creek Rd. heads south and west to Cayucos, if I remember correctly. That Dry Creek Rd is a hoot also. Are there pictures?

Dino, you (and Char) are right about Santa Rosa Creek Rd. it's ALMOST Rokon material in places. gorgeous fall colors, breathtaking views, follows the creek religiously for miles, had D's pucker factor quite high at times (there's one section as you're going downill that has you teetering on the brink of an unwanted stoppie, then gets even steeper, and THEN you have to navigate a 180-degree right-hander as you try not to go over the bars. fun stuff! (right Denise???)

few pix from this trip, mostly of our room and looking out the slider at the rain and the ocean, but if you take the time to track down the pix i posted after Laguna this year (specifically the one with D changing out of her cold weather gear), well THAT pic was taken on Santa Rosa Creek Rd.

great fun! (right Denise???)

Sweetie, you forgot I have renamed Santa Rosa Creek Rd the GNAR - the most gnarly a*s road on the planet BUT also it was the BEST road of the day!!!! And, BTW, I DID make it home the same day as FB.
