Char, see if you can catch rt 64 from Franklin to Bat Cave. Detour to the right to Lake Lure, great place to stop for lunch right at the lake. Coolest twisted dipped road made back in the 1920's for movie stars with hot rods who had vacation homes there. Head back to 64(damn that road again) and find your way to rt 16N. Stay on 16 until you just cannot take curves anymore! These, and getting to go up along the Ohio river on 7 would be in my plans for the trip you are taking. Make sure there is room in your helmet for grinning! |

Stop by Kenosha on your way up for a brew. We've got a spare bed if you need a place to crash... I'll be up at Erik Buell Racing, Thursday AM for a bit. |

@Whatever, You need to come visit me once you land back in the CH area. I live in the Hickory area and can show you some wonderful roads (2 hours from Chapel Thrill). It would be even better if we can get Nance to come with you. Also, I'm in the RTP 2 or 3 nights per week...I'll buy you burger so you can confirm that I'm not some creepy mountain guy If all the stars align, and we have world peace and all that other stuff, I hope to have U4 Jim R. over there...oh yea! big time will be had by all. |

Highway 73 in Ohio is pretty nice. I just came back from visiting my dad in Dobson NC. I took the scenic route back to Illinois. Ohio 73 was a new one for me. Pretty twisty and scenic. |

Char, best riding roads in Ohio are in the SE corner of the state. The further north and west ya go the flatter and straighter things get. |

We had a pretty good run today. After hitting HWY 40 to Asheville, we went up on the Blue Ridge Parkway and past Looking Glass Falls. We got a downpour starting coming into Franklin, but didn't get too wet. After we got here... it rained and hailed... we even have blankies we put over the bikes to put them night night...

Keep posting Pics. A better road in Ohio than 555 is 536 in southeastern Ohio. 536 runs between 78 and 7. There really aren't many cities there except Hannibal near route 7. If you come up Route 2 in WVa along the Ohio River to Sisterville, there is a little ferry boat that will take you across the river to Fly, Ohio. Go north on 7 till you get to Hannibal. Take 536 and be ready for some of the best turns you will find anywhere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sistersville_Ferry |

Pretty good day today. Piglet got a makeover. Met some new friends. The weather was fine here. Pretty much just relaxed and putted around town. Tomorrow we do some real riding! |

Great stuff, Char. If you hit MD (you might, between WV and PA), let me know. I'm off all weekend, could be persuaded to log a mile or two with ya if you want. Or, if you need a place to crash, I've got plenty o space. Verrrry jealous. Keep having fun! |

Damn, Char, looks like you've got a 35K or better mileage target for the year-end... Great pics, great to just imagine the fun and good times you're having... Don't you have any before/after Piglet makeover pics? Allow me to recommend a set of 1" bar risers, call American Sportbike- takes 10 minutes to install, makes a HUGE, HUGE difference in comfort and longevity in the saddle... I'd taken well over 20K miles with the stock set-up, wish I'd have put the risers on at day 1... Keep the rubber side down! And by all means, holler if you're passing thru E. TN! |
