I live in SE Michigan and I'm planning a week long trip out east. I'm about to finish a hugely stressful project at work, and as a bonus I have an extra week of vacation this year. Much to my family and girlfriend's disapproval, I'm going to use it selfishly and go on a bike trip instead of visiting family or something like that.

The plan is to put my bike in my truck and drive out to the east coast to meet up with my friend from NYC and head south from there.

We're not really sure yet where we're going, so I guess my big question is how far south should we go to get into some good weather if we go in March? Is there anyone in that area who could give me some advice on this?

I thought maybe the Smoky Mountains, how is it there that time of year? I come from Massachusetts so I haven't spent much time south of Pennsylvania and Ohio.

thanks and as always, happy riding! I'll post more as we continue planning the trip, maybe I'll see some of you out on the roads!
