Here I am riding over to my friends house. When all of a sudden a freaking taxi cab cuts me off and slams on his breaks. I KID YOU NOT; I only had like 40ft between me and the cab. I slam on my breaks, my rear end comes off the ground, starts coming over the top of me and I start thinking "Do I let the bike fall on me?". HECK NO! I jump forward and somehow land on my feet and used my hands on the trunk of the cab to stop my forward momentum. The bike follows me and hits me in the back; luckily i had my monster tail-bag on and full of clothes which it urn absorb most of the weight of the bike. THe bike finally falls to the ground with me still standing there in one piece :-).

Now the guy gets out of the cab and starts yelling at me saying i hit him. I was like "Dude the bike hit me and the force you felt was me hitting your car!". SO we bicker back and forth for a little. Luckily there was another guy on a bike and a car following me and witness the whole thing. So I finally get my bike off the floor and get the witnesses phone numbers and try to talk to the guy so we can exchange info, but he kept arguing say that I didn't want to give my info. He made the remark "Give me $40 to paint his bumper and that would be the end of it". Then one of co-workers happen to drive buy and stop. As I was talking to him the cab driver said he was going to move his car out of the street. I continued to talk to my co-worker and we realized the cab driver took off! I was like WTF! Good thing I got his plate number, cab company name, and cab number.

I am now waiting for the police to show up at my house so I can make the police report. I think the cop on the phone was more angry then I was about the whole incident. He was telling me stories about when he downed his bike.

Wish me luck that all goes well and that I get my bike fixed, so I can ride again.

That's a unique story. Glad you are okay. That could have turned out very badly, crunched between car and bike. Wondering why you called the police though.

Because the insurance needs a traffic report filled out to make a claim so I can get my bike fixed. The driver will now have a hit and run permanently on his record; since he left the seen without exchanging his info with me.

Are you seeing the accident as the fault of the cab driver?

It should be interesting how the police report comes out. I think there is a strong association of accidents related to changing lanes. The Cab made the lane change and the cab had an impact by a human body and then left the scene. That would not look good.

On the other hand there is a general principal that every driver is responsible for the control of their vehicle and if you hit something then you can be seen as at fault for not having control of your vehicle.

Sounds like a very scary accident and could easily have been very serious. I hope it all works out well for you.

Yes I do see it as his fault. It was only a matter of a second when he hit his breaks and he wasn't even completely in the lane.

Stay on it and DON'T assume anything!

HE fled so if nothing else, you will smell so much better when you get to court.

The BASTARD had something to hide - keep us posted.

AT least you got a couple witnesses
