Got Betty all loaded down and ready to go.

The weather's not exactly ideal for starting a 500 mile leg of the trip..

Sweet, a state line! This means progress!

The MO line is also where I noticed my first problem of the trip. Looks like the rear master cylinder is done. I'll worry about that when I get back from this trip.

It's making a mess! This all cleaned up well later with some simple green and a garden hose. None of the PC on the wheels seems to be touched by the brake fluid.

Stopped for dinner at this joint just east of Springfield, MO. They make a good reuben. (Yes - I ordered a reuben from a BBQ place)

It started POURING rain as soon as the sun went down and I was around Lebanon, MO. I continued about 25 miles to Camdenton and Got a motel for the night just to be safe. The light sensor for my headlight modulator got water in it or something because just before I stopped for the night it started modulating. Oncoming traffic doesn't appreciate that when it's dark outside ; )

Now I'm in Mexico, MO spending time with family. Tomorrow will be meeting fellow Buellers in Troy, IL and riding the rest of the way to Milwaukee!

Very sweet X1 ; )

Your lucky the earlier Buell's ran DOT 5 brake fluid or your paint would get eaten if it was DOT 4.

I hope to get to the 30th Homecoming.

Joe - Master cylinder on my x1 says dot 4 so that's what I use. Iirc, the manual calls for dot 5. Wtf?

Erick - glad to hear the bike will be good to go!

Just got to troy, illinois. Should have a small gang of buells here in 30 min or so! I wanted to get a pic of the illi state sign but drivers were insane coming around stl! Orange milspec vest, modulating headlight, orange bike and I still got ignored on the interstate : (

I didn't looks close enough. Its oil following a line down to the master cylinder and looks deceiving. Ill look at it tonight but it seems to only be leaking when I'm cruising 85+ on the slab.

Tyvm court and Hals for setting up the master cylinder though.

Wednesday night, in Missouri, I went out for a dinner ride with my cousin and her husband and one of his friends who rides.

I try, but I don't think I'll ever convince him to trade his shovelhead for a Buell.

Sunset was amazing!

Thursday morning I met up with Geforce, X1_, and a couple others in Troy, IL. Just having other riders around on the road makes slabbing the trip a lot more bearable!

Finally at Hals! Before this I met up with Adam (Boney95) and unpacked at his house.

Yes that is the man himself astride Betty!

Thursday night after the museum, a small group of us rode to a custard place. I can't seem to remember the name of it..

Homecoming @ the factory on Friday:

OnebadX1's bike:

And you can't attend homecoming without getting something signed..

Here are some pics of Last Laugh. I saw this bike last year at homecoming, but noticed a few details this year that I missed last year. What an amazing bike..

The welds on the frame are actually used as part of the artwork!

After the factory crowd died down, a few of us rode to Gus's for burgers and custard.

There were some really interesting old school harleys at Gus's.

I don't know what the story behind this S2 is, but the color scheme and Axtell badges definitely has me interested.

After leaving Gus's, one of the Hal's employees led some of us on a Kettle Moraine (sp?) run. It was a great ride, and I must say that Nature Trail lived up to all the hype!

I decided to avoid interstates on my way back to Oklahoma which turned out to make the trip a lot more fun, and a few hundred miles further : )

GPS kept telling me to take I-44 but I wanted to hit Eureka Springs, AR before turning west towards OK.

HWY 62 South from Eureka Springs was an absolute blast! Probably an hour's worth of tight weaving hills and curves.

I honestly don't even know what town this was is, but I stopped for dinner and they make some great BBQ.

The closer I got to Oklahoma, the flatter the scenery became : ( But I still found a new appreciation for the beauty of the landscape away from the interstate.

I pulled into the garage tonight with 2401 miles more than what I left with. Homecoming was great this year, but I think the route taken on my way back home was my favorite part of the trip.

I hope to go back into Arkansas later this summer for more adventures!

Cool trip and great call on hitting Eureka Springs!

Eureka Springs was where the 2nd "1st Annual" Buell Owners meeting was . . . . when they started B.R.A.G. I brought my friend Graeme Ware (who started R.O.B.E.) and we spent 4 incredible days of riding. But, after the roads claimed 9 Buells the first morning, they sought out "saner" destinations and Homecoming was eventually moved, on a semi-permanent basis, to East Troy.

Great report and a great looking X1.

Glad to hear you made it home safe PK and thanks for meeting up with us. We had a nice convoy heading up, hopefully next year we can get some more added to that! We managed to put 1600 miles on the bikes for the entire trip. But we did a LOT of riding when we were up there. I think X1 is about rode out as well. We drug him around everywhere with us. Glad to hear you made it back ok, and keep that X1 looking good, I was very impressed with the work you did to it.

Corey - where is the video of that guy from Troy who was rambling on about the Air Force manipulating the climate with their contrails, and government conspiracy and all that.

Did you happen to get any video of "Avril Lavigne's dad" from Bloomington?

Those were definitely some good highlights of the trip to WI! I think next year I'll stay out of IL and avoid all the crazies.

Then again, if I want to avoid the crazies I probably shouldn't be going to homecoming

I do. It was built (and I think still owned by) the legendary Ron Dickey who owns Axtell.

That is an accurate statement.

Kinda neat to see the general idea of where I've been on this bike.

I'd love to get further into the SE and NW corners of the country.

We only got a bit of video of Becca and I talking about the Bloomington crazy face. I am trying to put a compilation together and sort all this media out and kinda make like a Homecoming 2009 video so I can share it here. The Troy, IL Crazy Face is going up on You Tube as "Woke up on the wrong side of my car..."

And somewhere around 120 RWHP.

I do not know if my group (Joe, Kim and Andy) noticed but after talking to him we ended up behind him and his group heading back to the camp ground from Hals. He was not the only S2 rider in his group.

Been riding a buell (My first street bike) for less than a week, and the support this forum and the riders give is overwhelming. I have chosen wisely, and look forward to making it to this "Homecoming" maybe next year.

Phillip,

Thanks for the compliments on Last Laugh. He's been quite a long project that never ends. I guess that is what made me keep him this long. The theme is a story actually. Your bike on the other hand is one clean bike and you should be proud of it. I miss my older tuber "BadS1" all the time. It was a pleasure to meet you even though it was brief at Gus's. Hope to see you next year also.
