me 'n D had a blast, as you can tell by the pix. every photo i posted deserves a story to go along with it, but, well, you know how it goes.
that said, here's a little caption material for several of the pix:
truth be told, the ONLY reason Denise and i rode clear to Michigan for this gig was to finally get our "Pocket FB&D" from Spidey, as he said he wouldn't mail it to us. biotch!
if you're unsure the significance of all of this nonsense (join the club :-), here's a link:
this pretty lady spent 1150 long, hard miles on the back of my Road King this weekend with nary a whimper, thru heat, humidity, rain, darkness and Interstate Big Rig soup, and took care of me as much as i took care of her. (i'd post the pix from the jacuzzi in our motel room in Livonia, but they'd never make it past the totalitarian custodians on this site.) anyway, i'd like y'all to meet the "D" in FB&D:
these kind folks treated us like family from the moment we hooked up at the church, and kindly agreed to be our chauffeurs for the rest of the evening after we groaned about the initial $45 cab ride from our motel to the church. please meet Jug and Thelma:
i've partied with Jug before, when he and Spidey rode up to Appleton for the start of the FBRAT ride, and he and Thelma are the BEST! thank you guys!! :-)
this is Spidey and his Mom out on the dance floor, about to give each other a smooch. it ain't the best photo, but it's a grand moment in time, and i'm very happy for them both:
you've heard of FB&D? well, this is D&FB:
when Spidey and Jug invaded Appleton for FBRAT, me 'n Dave Stueve and Alex Prior and them crashed a Chili's for dinner and drinks one night, and Spidey was on a definite roll. our waitress rolled with punches and had as good a time as we did. one of her favorites lines on the night, one which she had to use often, was directed at Spidey and went like, "I like you better when you're quiet!"
we all still laugh about this to this day, and the following pic reminds me a lot of that evening:
this is the truth: Spiderman is the ONLY man i know that can get away with wearing a pink thong in public without damaging his street cred.
earlier in the evening Jug and Thelma cleaned out the pink panty supply at a local Wal-Mart, just to make sure everyone would have something to toss back at Spidey when he tossed out the ceremonial garter.
Spidey, you wear it well:
this is a photo of a photo of Spidey and Lisa on display at the reception. my photo is not very good, but THEIR photo is, and i'm glad i took a moment to grab it. Tony and Lisa, you guys make an awesome couple: :-)
true story: it's 1:30 Sunday morning and i'm passed out in my motel room. the phone rings. WTF!?!?!?! after i came to my senses enough to realize what was happening, i picked up the receiver and slammed it back down in the cradle. FARK!
ten seconds later it rang again.
this time i picked it up and angrily hollered, "WHAT?!??!"
"Ferris, it's Spiderman, I'm down in the lobby, I've got something for you!"
anyone else and i'd have told them to eff the eff off.
when the elevator door opened to the lobby, the receptionist wouldn't make eye contact with me. Spidey knew where we were staying, of course, but didn't know which room we were in, and had had to work his charm on her to get her to ring our room.
it must have been comical when i hung up in her ear the first time.
anyway, the gift was this Spiderman baseball, and it seemed appropriate to wrap it up in a sanitary napkin bag for the ride home:
yo Spidey, like, maybe next time just give it to me at the reception??? ;--)
in spite of having a long-assed ride ahead of us on Sunday, both of us carrying a "bit" of a hangover, we hooked up with JB2 and Kim Bantz for lunch on our way thru Ohio, which was a real treat.
i've known JB2 since the halcyon days of PACBOG, have ridden around the country with him several times, and have stayed with him and Kim at their home in Indiana several times, but this was the first time either of them had met Denise, or vice-verse.
we all had a most excellent visit and really didn't want it to end, but duty called. thx again guys for making the trip over to see us, and thx for lunch!
Kim, JB2 and Denise:
thx again Spidey and Lisa for inviting us to your wedding, and for making us feel so welcome. congrats!!!!!!!

I was feelin' pretty lucky that day... a fugly guy like me trapped between two pretty women. Shhhh.. whilst I dream.
It was cool that Kim and I got to meet D. together. Now that bridge is crossed I can't wait to toss back a few dark brews and smoke cigars with her next month in Franklin. Still hoping Kim will find the courage to travel in a caravan with the other cagers. We might even get her to smoke a ceegar?

I never noticed before that Jerry Haughton looks like my dentist, Dr. Payne. Dr. Payne (nice spelling) is Al Lighton's dentist also.
Oh yeah, congrats Spidey!

Tony and Lisa, congratulations on the start of your big adventure!
I'm really sorry Jan and I couldn't make it.
Jerry, thanks so much for being the "eyes" for those of us that couldn't make it to the wedding.
Fabulous pictures my friend.. I can't say thanks enough..

Ferris if I would have known you were riding the bike I would have just told you to get a hotel room closer to my house and we would have picked you up from the beginning. It would have saved you 40 miles of riding through our paper flat state.

There are a ton of cool pics I took while in Niagra and once this week has slowed back down to normal pace I'll start a threa din the storm fronts. Needless to say there are some very friendly squirls, a Spider-Squirle, I can eat 26 onces of prime rib, a baked potato, 4 rolls, drink to pints of Guinness and still walk a mile not to mention the great views of the falls!
Here is a cool 2 second exposure I took of the American Falls at night.
