Went for a really great ride with the Colorado Thunder Club Buell group today. Sunny, nice roads, great people. Headed to Deckers from Morrison, and got to County Road 126. I was tailing the fast guys (read: WAAAAAY in the back) Then, crap. That's all I could think of when I grabbed the front brake, and the bike stood up. I was headed for the guardrail, and I wasn't going to pull this one off. I had scrubbed enough speed off, but when I went down on my left side, I ripped my protective pants, lost the peg on my shifter, both mirrors lost, the side cover got trashed, and the handlebars look like something from a clown bike. Turn signals on left side are gone, the tank, front fender, headlight and flyscreen all have scrapes. But, thanks to some kind people, they helped me stand it back up, and a BMW guy (they always have tools, why is that?) lent me a pair of vice grips to make an impromptu shifter peg. The Buellers helped me bend the handlebars back to a rideable degree, and I spent the rest of the day trying not to drag the vice grips on the ground. Even after the crash, it was still a nice day. Thanks everyone! I did have fun! I'll get the bike presentable soon, and go out again.
