Once again the American Sportbike Company owned by Al and Joanne Lighton have provided us with a Venue to get together with our Northern Bueller Friends.Held in a park outside of Solvang , California this place is a perfect spot for like minded folks to visit! Popular for hosting many gatherings of Motor Enthusiasts , in fact a Porsche club was gathered there as we set up! I wanted to Thank our Hosts for all the care, attention and time they put into this. For most of you know , in their world "Time" is of short supply and even while taking care of our "Buell" needs they still pull this event off with incredible SUCCESS..!!!
Thank You my friends and hello to all the NEW friends we made this weekend!..

Ah, I see you "fixed" the title so we can read your thread--
It was, again, a great event put on by Al and Co. Nice rides, great BBQ, and seeing all the folks at the Firestone Brewpub was a real treat.

What FMJ said! Thanks to all who helped put it on.
Took a lot of work this morning before I figured out how to see the thread. When blocked by a sponsor link go to "Last Day" at bottom of page, look in desired section and click on name of poster. Might be other ways but I'm not so computer literate.

There were a lot of cool things to take pictures of, but I'm not a shutterbug so I'll let the guys that are post the cool pictures.

But Sean Gratrix (vegas guy, best roadside assist) sent me one of something we saw along the way that had me laughing for a while. We stopped for gas at the only gas station on 166, and this sign was next to the gas station.

TOTAL?

Hey Wayne....I'm gonna go WAY out on a limb and say I actually enjoyed hanging out with the "Trailer Queen" guys....(Well , Bernie was cool anyways.!)..and I truly wish I had been on that ride!..Someone should have shot forward to get some side of the road pictures and with your bikes it's not hard to know when to lift the camera! In fact...I think the ENTIRE COUNTY knows whence you approach!!!......(specially that Highway Patrolman!)

To Joanne, Al and Zack. Another great BBQ. I brought my 76 yr. old ex-landlord with me (still riding, every day on his new BMW), and he could not believe the friendship that he observed at the BBQ. I told him, more than once, that this is the Buell community, whether once a Bueller or still a Bueller, that's the friendships that develop and remain. And you'all at American Sport Bike continue that tradition. He was even more amazed of the food quality. He thought it was a hotdog on a bun affair! NOT! The food was awesome, as usual!

It was great seeing everyone! Thanks Al and Joanne!

Great pictures Spiv and Ebear! I lived in Los Angeles for 7 years before moving back east so I am familiar with your area. Absolutely a beautiful part of the country for riding. It looks like you all drew quite a few Buellers to your BBQ. Congratulations on such a successful event.

Say...When is American Sport Bike going to open an outpost in the Southeast?

AS big thank-you to Al, Zack n Joanne, never had so much fun with complete strangers...ever! And probably the scariest "ride" in my life(except that one time on that Kawi500 back in the day)never so glad to see all of you at the park. Lets do it again next year, but this time it would be nice to see some So. Cal instead of Jon's Ully tail.

Paul,

There certainly are a bunch of Buellers in your area, and some great roads to ride on! No plans to open an outpost there yet, though...

We are, however, looking at alternate venues for next year's event. Buellton has been fun, and there are some terrific rides and destinations in the area, but we think it may be time to move on... It will be our 10th annual BBQ (14 years for the business, but only 10 for the BBQ), so we want to do something special. Montecito Lodge comes to mind - what do the "Octoberfasters" of years gone by think of that idea? Despite my last incident up there, I would be willing to go down that very same road in a heartbeat! Fond memories have a way of erasing painful ones (kinda like childbirth, I guess).

Scott,
No way is your ex-landlord 76 - he's gotta be pulling your leg. AND CONGRATS ON YOUR DEGREE - YEA!!!!

David,
Glad to hear you had fun, and I'm especially glad to hear of no riding "incidences." This year's "Best Roadside Assist" was won by Sean because he was helping out a trucker, not a fellow rider. I didn't hear of any mishaps on the rides, which makes me very happy. Your comment of seeing So. Cal. instead of Jon's tail makes sense - perhaps a short self-guided ride that emphasizes scenery, photo ops, etc. Maybe a map with some key locations, but without a route, so that no one would feel pressure to stay with a group.

Michelle (Shaiss before you got your own voice!),
Eric has had a full week, but will no doubt have some more photos to share. I also have some at work that another customer dropped off; need to get them posted too.

Joanne

I've thought of taking on the Octoberfast duty but alas was not up to it this year.
And at this point next year is just a maybe...
But most of the groundwork would be the same as the picnic...
Any local runs would be similar to the first Octoberfast, and the longer Monticito version is no problem. It's how to start it off and finish along with local accomidations. Doable, just needs a lot of "groundwork" on my part.

Had a great time with all of you "out of towners" at the BBQ and ride. Especially cool just to hang out down at the Firestone Walker brew pub in the evenings with everyone. I am expecting Tom to want me to bring him down a keg of beer sometime in the future, and you never know, I could just do that.

The police presence has almost subsided enough for me to get out and ride my own roads again, ahem, without being given the evil eye by everyone, but that is the price you pay sometimes. Hopefully all will be back to normal in the area real soon, or at least until I'm trying to break in my 1125R in another month and a half.

"AHEM".....kinda sez it all Bertman!
I guess thats the price you pay for naming yourself after Erik's Motorcycle Company ya' know!
Once again your enthusiasm and friendship has endeared many Brett....your an asset to the group and the Buell community as a whole! It was great hanging out with you and hope to see more of you this coming year.

Sooo...I guess we can alarm the Porterville Police next??? They probably know Waynes name by heart out there!!!
