Here is the tour more proper We trailered the bikes up to Lake Placid NY where my buddy has a 20 acres.  Next moring we unloaded wet bikes and head out to the lake (Champlain) on the way we stoped at the Ausable chasm: Beautiful specticle.  Got to the Lake which was very windy and cloudy:   Over the Ferry into Burlington VT. we drove through the town with no time to stop. Onward to this place. My favorite cheeses.  When we got to the green mountains and then the white mountains of NH, I found myself in awe as usual of the flowing elevation changes all around me and it always tends to spike an overwhelming sense of adrenaline. We finally got to our hotel in N. Conway NH. Nice town. No pics of the Red Roof Inn. Had dinner and went to bed. Next morning we head out for a day of riding. Head south on Route 113 and around up 175 (newly paved and then to the "Kank" the Kancamangus Highway. Beautiful, fast sweepers that we took at a higher rate of speed than posted. Here is a pic of me getting ready to leave. Just know that I put the gloves on following the pic being taken.   Then we hit this awsome road that I can't remember.Maybe 16 up into Maine to eat. We got to talking about a great road that takes you back to N Conway with a local dude. He told us we had to hit this one road called Hurricane mountain road. We followed 113 south and with many a high speed sharp turns it took us to an overlook called Evans notch:    We then found the Hurricane Mountain Rd. 22% up. Nicely paved but many bumps that got the City-x airborne a few times. I rode it like a dirt bike standing up and just launching off the bumps my other buddy who rides a Uly also had fun but my friend Jeff who was riding the $20,000 BMW took it ALOT slower. Fantastic road. Fun . Dumped us back to N Conway and we were all in our beds by 6:30 at night without dinner. Just too damn tired. Oh I failed to mention that it was 94 degrees that day. Over 200 miles for the day. Next day was for Mount Washington: I will let the pics speak for themselves        GLORIOUS Then back out to the KanK . Opposite direction. Great riding. Hot but that is fine with the camelback on my back. We head back to NY. We did the cross state trip in great weather barring the twenty minute rain storm, my buddy had a surprise on the way back through VT. He took us south route 302 across the cheesey state. We hammered on route 2 and got on 89 for awhile before hitting Burlington and on to the ferry. Bye bye Burlington  Hello NY:  The boys in black  After a long day we lit a campfire safely back at the Placid house and drank some heineken lights. I won't go into the story about my buddy trying to move his BMW in the dark, under the influence, on sand, going 2 mph. Let's just say I am glad I don't have a full faring bike. ;o) The next morning before packing the bikes up and driving 6 hours home we had one more mission on the bikes. To get up Whiteface. Clear, crisp, NO WIND at all. After breakfast we made the ascent. Again I will let the pics talk for me. I hope you enjoyed my adventure. Lake Placid from above      | ||

Great pics Chris! I really am jealous now. Between this and your earlier "coastal tour", it looks like you've had some great rides this summer. My complements to your Uly buddy also. That faux camo paint job looks pretty sweet. My condolences to your BMW friend. Keep working on him and maybe he'll find the way of Buell. Paul | ||

I put on another 4500 miles this summer. I am starting to think that it might be time to look into the 2008 ULY for next September. After looking at the pics of me on the bike I just look to big for the bike. I just think if I can swap the city-x handlebars on the Uly it might keep the sportbike feel but the added suspension for when the pavement ends will be a benefit. | ||

Great pics! I was born and raised in VT and love the area (except in the winter). If anyone goes to the Cabot Creamery as noted in the picture above, make sure to skip lunch as they always have all sorts of goodies to sample and I always leave stuffed. |
