there is a story ,that would make a wonderful movie of the Traub's conception/birth! even if it has to be mostly fiction!

think part Tucker, part The World's Fastest Indian!

And in this clip, you can hear not only one of those 1906 Harleys running (post the picture Ferris), you can hear Ferris himself, over the motor, from the second story.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6136610579536802222&q=silent+grey+fello w

It sounded great, I wanted to jump on it and go for a relaxed ride up the blue ridge parkway. I could not imagine how exciting it must have been to own one of these machines in 1910. Astounding.

Love the tire marks in the aisle!

Thang, i saw a video of Dale Walksler laying down one of these black, chewy rubber marks. not sure what manner of scoot, but it was old a classic and he had to whip it pretty good to get it to light the tire and keep it lit, THEN had to whoa the whole show down before he bowled over about a gazillion dollars worth of priceless motorcycle and memorabilia.

you gotta love a museum curator that ain't afraid to have a little fun with his museum pieces. : )

She say's any time!

Now that is a cool shot of the twins, too bad that they didn't beam that bad boy home!

hi James. : )

it's hard to pick a favorite in the museum - the place is pretty overwhelming - but i'm with you: i love that bike.

SLeeZ, i think the Traub is the result of an alien spawning experiment gone awry.

Shel has wanted to spank my ass for years - i might as well give her another reason or two to do so. : )

Now that is a cool shot of the twins, too bad that they didn't beam that bad boy home!

the Twins made exactly one appearance in the museum, and it was on the Traub. truthfully, i set them there just as careful as could be, giving that bike all the respect it deserves.

imagine, there's only ONE Traub in existence, and NOBODY knows anything about who built it and why.

and it runs!!!

this bike alone was worth the trip to Maggie Valley to see; everything else was just icing on a very large cake. : )

if the engines don't grab you (including three early Blast variants), note the set of tires on the left, still wrapped in the original packing material.

every machine in the museum is a winner, but IF you made me pick a second-place scooter (behind the Traub), it might be this '36 Knuckle.

this machine - exactly 70 years old - is the proud granddaddy of today's Harley-Davisdon Twin Cam 96. this Knuck makes my knees knock.

Dale obviously has a soft spot for ALL vintage American iron, including this Corvette ('62?) with just a tick over 7000 original miles on the clock.

this shot gives an idea of the lighting dilemma if you choose to shoot ambient. that's our gang, checking out an automobile (the brand and vintage of which escapes me) which is getting its engine rebuilt, in public instead of behind closed doors, as a form of gearheadish entertainment.
