Nice pic's JH.I've been looking at RK's and Roadglides for awhile.Very tempting.I like the no windscreen look.Just wondering when you are going to dump the full-face and start getting bugs and rocks popped in your mug by going the half shell route.

thanks Nitsebes. the no windscreen thing is cool visually, and cool literally, in this typically hot, typically arid climate i live in. i overheat pretty easily, and riding/hiding behind a shield on a 100-degree day gets old pretty quick.

it makes major headwinds (something else that's common around here) an issue sometimes, as then there's no shield to hide behind to stay out of the wind blast.

still, MOST of the time i prefer to leave the shield at home, and take my chances.

as far as the half shell/bugs and rocks in the mug thing, been there, done that, and it HURTS! : )

i'm ALMOST there, Kyle. i grabbed a couple of cat naps yesterday, but nothing real significant, and stayed up WAY past my usual bedtime last night hanging the pix and composing the text for this thread.

so this morning i slept in big time (plus took a longggg nap later this morning).

if i get a good night's sleep tonight, tomorrow i think i'll be back to what passes for normal in my world.

thanks again, Kyle. : )

Great pics, I enjoyed them immensely.

Coturi, thanks for the info on the egg. i hope that by picking it up like that i didn't jeopardize it's future. and thanks for the props.

Pdx, glad i could straighten you out (yet again ;) )

thanks Chainsaw. i know you've taken a lot of epic trips on your Sportster. i've owned two Sporty's in the past (one ironhead and one Evo) and liked 'em both just fine, but there's something about the looks, ride and performance of a Big Twin that just appeals to me. i REALLY like the convenience of lockable hard luggage when i ride. the saddlebags on the RK hold a surprising amount of stuff. for example, my one-piece Aerostich Roadcrafter suit WILL fit in one of the bags, with a 'little' extra room to tuck things in around it.

thanks again guys. : )

Nice pix, Jerry. When I grow up, I wanna take pictures as good as Ferris.
'Twas not so long ago it used to be, "I wanna take the turns as good as Ferris."

So, if Jerry from Ferrisville had an iron-barrel S2, would he be Ferrous Bueller?

Ebear, talk about baggage . . . Is there a plan in the werx?

Sparky good to see your name around. I've wanted to get a copy of picture I think you took at B'ville in 2000. Three red Buells at the front door to the casino. Was that you?

Hi JB2. Yes, it was I.

What a memorable ride that was. I'll never forget pulling into Las Vegas in 105 deg heat, staying inside the 76 station on Pahrump Drive, sucking on a giant root beer float dreading to go outside, then, when leaving Las Vegas, pulling up behind the Lil Ale'inn truck going upstate, rolling through the green riverside meadows of central Nevada, seeing for the first time the vast expanse of the salt flats, and... pulling into the casino alongside 2 red Buells. Perfect Day. What a trip!

I'll dig the photo out, post it here and email it to ya.
Thanks,
Sparky

Hey Ferris

Now that you are doing your AARP inpersonations, maybe I can get by you in the apexes now!!!

Looks like a great ride, wish I could have done that one, but the ankle surgery went perfectly and means I will be off the ride till at least Independence Day, missing out on some great rides it would seem! 8 years of "loose objects" floating around in the ankle finally removed!! 3 pieces, small one was 5MM, then a 6.5MM and an 8MM "object" just floating around in there!! Go Navy doctors!! "Here is some motrin, you just strained it is all" LOL

Always enjoy your adventures and photgraphic exploits!!

sorry to hear about the surgery, Bruce, but glad you're on the mend!

truth is you coulda got around me BEFORE, except for the excellent blocking job i did (an FJR with factory saddlebags attached oughta come with a factory "CAUTION: WIDE LOAD" warning label, maybe even a pilot car! ;) )

thanks for the props, looking forward to our next ride together, and...next time, please consider giving this old boy a sizable head start???

Hi Jerry...

It was great to hear about this adventure over breakfast on Sunday with Russ and Vickie. I didn't realize you had posted it here...The pictures are awesome, as is your account of where and what was going on at the time of the picture. See you next year when I come over to Porterville. or, somewhere in our travels...

Hmmm, Nevada. Well, as a matter of fact, I had also planned a ride into our neighboring state. The morning I was to leave I checked the weather radar and found that the entire area of my destination was colored the lovely light blue indicating...snow. Time for a last minute change of plans...AWD. Sure enough, snow...and thunder and lightning and hail.

But by the next day I was cursing every person I saw who was lucky enough to be on a bike! (Though it was frickin' COLD when this shot was taken.)

first of all, you're a wussy for not taking your bike. heck, i bet the Beemer's got 2-WD and you don't even know it.

second, your second shot makes all of mine look like the cheesy low-qual snap-shots they really are, so take your keen eye and award-winning photography and stick...

sorry, lost my head for a minute (derned lucky for you i didn't use the "F" word...)
Welcome back ST/Ranger! : )

Glad you liked the photo. Though, to put things in perspective, I did not ride 800+ miles that day, so I had a bit more time to, you know, compose and stuff. Besides, I enjoyed yours!

As to the wussy thing, yep. Though I came damn close to leaving on the Beemer despite the weather.

The snow pic was taken Saturday, a week ago today. The lake picture was taken early the next morning.

For those of you lucky enough to not have to live in this hellhole we call the Sierra Nevada, the lake in question is Tahoe. And, no...I did not pull the Subaru up onto the sidewalk in front of Harrah's at stateline to get a picture.

>> and an hour and a half later, for the second time this day, i motored thru Death Valley Junction (formerly Amargosa, town of). <<

I saw Marta Beckett dance at the Amargosa Theatre/Playhouse several years ago. She was in her 80's then. If she's still dancing, it's a nifty show for anyone interested in seeing a REAL, oldtime entertainment presentation (and she painted the interior of the theatre herself).

A month late, but that's one of the nice things about riding with you, Jerry: I can go when it's convenient for me.

Oh, yeah; and I can do an 800+ mile day and my butt never gets tired.

Thanks for the trip.
