Newfie,

Did'nt you say you were "required" to take the family on a vacation? Well, make it a summer vacation. Drive the whole crew down. Spend the whole summer learning all about the weekly (it seems) festivals here on the lakefront. Don't like the music, wait a week. Don't like the food, wait a week. Hiking, fishing, bicycling, boating, motorcycling. Get bored and drive over to Deals Gap in a long day, or head to Colorado in a slightly longer day. Shoot, come to Milwaukee in June, then head to Washington for the July SuperSPLASH event. There's a whole ton of stuff in Washington, much like NewfieLand only with a milder climate west of the Cascades. Want to stay Canadian (hope that isn't an insult to a NewFoundlander) then just head up to British Columbia. Shoot, if I keep typing I could plan your family's whole summer vacation. Head down to DisneyWorld, then just drive across the southern lands to DisneyLand and your kids will be both happy and tired (of course by then you'll just be broke and tired). So, what, like you can't work remotely? Just phone home and spend the summer in the neighborland down here.

Summer vacation isn't just for kids. ;)

Mike,

I would consider that kind of a trip is I had a big pile of money. Someday I will do that on a bike with my wife but until the kids are grown not gonna happen, The good thing is that when I am 40 my kids will be mostly grown up. Still young enough to have lots of fun, until then I am on my own when it comes to the bike trips.

Mikej,

I heard a rumor that you are coming to the Upper Peninsula with us after the 20th, because you like to camp and we are visiting a replica Ojibway village at Lac de Flambeau and you REALLY wanted to make sure that I make it back to Manitowoc ok. Thinking of taking the ferry from Michigan back to northern Wisconsin.

Don't think I am even near close to done working on you about this either...

:)Charlotte

Yeah Mike,

Come on, please don't leave me alone with her!!!!! The Amazing Spiderman declined (personally I think he is afraid of her)

Recently she tried to tell me a story about an animal that is referred to as a "Fisher". I think its an urban legend, come to Newfoundland and I will introduce you to some "Saltwater Rabbits" hehehe

There is such a critter known as a Fisher, so she does know of what she speaks. :)

Now, if however, she invites you on a Snipe hunt, although it is also a legitimate creature, there is more folklore than fact about the actual hunting of same. ;)

Note when camping in the woods: don't leave your bare toes exposed.

ps, didn't one of the U.S. presidents have an encounter in a canoe with one of those water rabbits?

Don't even tell me you all are going to wimp out on me in the end.

Spidey,
Don't even start to tell Newfie about the HODAGs up here or he will never agree to camping.

Mike,
The ferry runs between somewhere in northern Michigan and Manitowoc in Wisconsin, that way you can avoid the pervasive smells of Milwaukee and Chicago on the southern route.

JUST THINK HOW MUCH FUN WE COULD HAVE:

Newfie, Charlotte, Spidey and Mike in the UP ! Skinny dipping at midnight ! If I were Spidey I would be very afraid. I eat little boys like him for dessert. (pun intended, dammit)

Bye
BLACK HODAG

I for one am not wimping out on this one.

I have not Skinny Dipped at Midnight since I was Spidey's age - bloody water is cold up in these parts and it really takes a man to do that.

As for the Fisher we have those and they resemble the Newfoundland Pine Marten a close relative to the American Marten. Of course with all Newfoundland things they are unique to our island.

There is no such thing as a salt water rabbit but I could tell you a crazy story of how I almost got bitten by an "Angry Beaver one evening" hehehehe.

As for Charlotte, I would not leave anything exposed for too long - I think she has been spending to much time isolated in the north woods. Next thing she is going to tell us she has been seeing the Northern Lights in the night sky.

Spidey if you come and we see her go for your juggler, your on your own buddy. Stand your ground and don't be afraid of her. Me and Mike are walking away to go for a beer.

Hey Char, the ferry goes between Ludington, MI and Manitowoc. I think the price is about $78 for a one way ticket and a motorcycle. More info here

That is one hell of a trip you are planning.

I have the guts, but alas not enough vacation time :(

But I wanna see everything that happens in print right here guys !!

I know that I'll find out in August, But sometimes I really wonder what everybody who posts here looks like. I hope everybody keeps posting what they're planning, so I can make my plans. I won't offer suggestions, though. The one time I did, I got jumped on for it.

CJ,

Haven't you ever heard of "Road Rules" - Thats the gospel here in Newfoundland. "What goes on the road stays on the road!!!!!!"

So if you want to find out your gonna have to come along for the ride!!!!!!!!!

Crusty,

Suggest anything you have on your mind - your only on this place once so make the best of it.

And anyone is more than welcome to follow me back to Newfoundland.

Kinger,

Check out the Great Lakes Adventure on Sportbikes (GLASS) on the Quick Board. You are more than welcome to join us... don't want to piss the Kringle monstor off... gotta have Kringle at the 20th anniversary, hold the refried beans, please.

Anyhow, I am on my way to Madison in thirty minutes to do some sunbathing on the Union Terrace... maybe check out some of the 'fine young thangs' that will be down in Mad Town. Lord knows the ones in these parts don't have the brains to match the brawn.

OK, I will sign the card. We will bring it up at the first ever WOLF RIVER BRAG MEETING ...

 Charlotte
PS Crusty, join in on the plan, you don't wanna miss out do you ?

AT the request of Char I am posting all the info again.
As many of you know 2003 marks the 100th year for Harley-Davidson, it also marks another significant year for us as Buelligans. You guessed it 20 years of Buell motorcycles. Not the Company mind you but 20years of motorcycles produced under the Buell name. Back in 1983 Erik broke away from H-D and produced the very first Buell motorcycle, the RW750. Shortly after Erik made the 750cc square four, two stroke, AMA eliminated the two stroke racing class only after selling one of these monster bikes. For this anniversary we are going to thank the man who has inspired others by creating an anniversary card to end all cards. All BRAG chapters or private chapters such as American Thunder Bike can use 11x17 inch sheets of paper, make sure it is a high grade thick paper. You can put the club name or chapter name at the top and have all the members sign it. For people who do not belong to a chapter you can send me a autographed piece of paper and pictures are more than welcome, this goes for clubs also. These will be due by May 10th 2003. There will be a ride meeting just out side of East Troy at Hal’s. If you plan on attending this ride let me know when you send in your signature(s). Please mail these signatures to:
Tony Barchock
5415 Cherokee
Dearborn Hts, Mi
48125
or
Tony Barchock
American Harley-Davidson and Buell
5436 Jackson Rd
Ann Arbor, Mi
48103
I look forward to receiving your signatures and even more forward to meeting all of you at Hal’s. Again promptness is key I will also leave blank sheets in the back of the card/book for procrastinators that want to contribute while at Hal’s. But I will still need an approximate number of people that will attend so I can inform Hal’s and the factory of our impending arrival. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 800-234-7285
Or 734-355-7453. Thank you again and I look forward to talking to all of you.
