Court I love your shots of my hometown. You really capture the vibe and energy, especially those lazy day sun shots - fantastic. just to throw it in the nyc mix, here's a shot of my 74 ironhead sportster parked in front of my shop in brooklyn. i liked the contrast of the graffiti caught in the rich evening light. and who knows how much longer graffitti and lazy days will last. i hear they're starting to build yuppie diners in bushwick ...

Hey Court; that's my old building. They even still have my old curtains and old AC up. Cool. Thanks.

For those who don't know; used to live in the building in the second picture. Top floor, corner windows. Great view of Lower Manhattan, East River and the 3 bridges. I miss that view.

Well....then you'd LOVE the serial number on my Stratocaster.....420666.

Hey. . . I know you guys dig having reasons not to live in NYC and to torture me. I'll toss another one at you.

Today my 17 mile commute from Staten Island to Queens was about 4 hours. I was at 39th Street on the Gowanus when Vickie called me to tell me she'd heard the news and was taking the Ferry to work. She called me from her Rock Center office before I made it another mile.

Yep....a tractor trailer had flipped and was wall-to-wall blocking Gotham rush hour traffic. Now how cool is it that I, a known Nikon Felon, was on the scene with a bag 'o cameras as I passed the destroyed Coca-Cola truck.

Look closely at the large front end loader and the wonderful civil servants as they shoveled the BQE. Look VERY close...yes, that is hot Coke squirting from the damaged cans. Don't you know these guys won't be unstruck from the vinyl seats of the NYC pickup trucks for two weeks!

Special thanks to 1313 who, it arrived yesterday, provided me with a WEALTH of historical Buell information for an ongoing project. I spent 2 hours reading about Wales, rotary valves, bimetallic brake rotors, 178MPH Buells and aerodynamic theory being turned to bodywork in a farmhouse.

Enjoy . . .

Court

Touble Ahead

This is almost ALWAYS a bad thing in NYC. . more vehicles in the city than TX, OK, KS, NE, SD & ND. . . any questions as to why Henrik has ZERO interest in owning a car?

Three hours into the commute

Note the very vacant roadway that ordinarily carries some of the heaviest traffic volume in the WORLD

My pals

For the most part just a sentimental pic. I figure these guys will be at my house soon and I want to recognize them. What other city send detectives to a Cola-Cola spill?

Serious Clean-up

When you bring 4 of these loaders to pickup aluminum cans you have a homeless persons heyday in the making!. . I had visions of them standing at the Food-King and leaving with $28,945

Sticky Situation

These guys are probably still stuck to the seat of a pickup being licked by cats. Look CLOSELY. . . you can see the Coke squirting from the cans

Pipers?

Really Agit. . . you can come to America and make a fortune as a sign painter, it no matter you no speaka da English. And...have the pipers weighed in on this yet?

Brooklyn Backroads

So I did the "right thing". . once I cleared the traffic, I sat on a sidewalk, overlooking Wall Street across the water and drank coffee and read the paper.

Oddly enough . . . some folks were unwilling to get on the wire and I think I am the ONLY lineman in the area.

There was quite a laugh. . . . I am scared to death of 480V, perfectly comfy with 138kV, 230kV and 345kV. Seems I am the "Lone Lineman" in the area.

There were a few laughs when I pulled a stopwatch (calibrated in feet) and a certified thermometer from my tool bag. The laughing turned to utter amazement (Damn. . . it really works) when I taught a coupe foreman how to use them.

It's been a very STEEP learning curve.

We energize tomorrow night . . . hold your ears.

I can speculate the stopwatch calibrated in feet (make sure people below have hard hats) but not the thermometer... Hmm...

I love New York . . . something, as silly as it sounds, I love about the drive every day.

By the way, if there are any orphaned Badwebbers in or near Gotham with no place to go for Thanksgiving, drop me a note. Vick's dad is in really rough shape in the hospital so we are going nowhere. Boys are in Kansas, so we're opening the house and kitchen to powerplant orphans, some of the folks I have working with me who are from Texas, Louisiana, Maine and Washington. Interesting group from the Maine Maritime Academy.

Anyway. . . totally laid back, come and go as you want, spare bikes here it you want to ride (nothing particularly interesting this year) and you can count on music (2 grand piano, Yamaha electric and a host of guitars) all day and I'll be spending a good part of the day proving that Leo Fender gave us the Strat to allow folks like me to prove we have no talent. You can do worse, by the way, for food in NYC as well. Just drop me a note}

Pay careful note to the shirt being held by the wandering street person above. . . I am betting that few folks have seen it and those lucky souls who took time to write the HD dealers and urge them to "TALK UP DAYTONA" will have very special ones on the way.

This particular, wrested from me in the streets of the city, is going to a VSB (Very Special Bueller) serving his country in Iraq.

It's a great city NEW YORK!

P.S. - I'm betting the street person above can attest that those folks who took the time to contact the HD dealers scored a HOME RUN!

Most of all . . . THANK YOU for playing a role in making BUELL RACING successful at Daytona in 2006.
