Well...I know it ain't a motorcycle tale, or a crash update, so I'm hoping this falls under "hooligan havoc" :c)

I've been in Korea a little over a year and a half, and FINALLY leaving in February (going to South Carolina as of yesterday)!! I've had a lot of good times here, really enjoyed everything there is to do and see.

I thought maybe some of you Badwebbers, especially with the good-sized veteran population here on this site , might appreciate some of my favorite pics from serving here...

Great opportunity to learn how to REALLY play here in Korea...

One of my Korean counterparts...

I love playing around with lengthy exposures and the red and blues...TOO much free time!

We found a unexploded grenade on a patrol about a year ago, wanted to see what would happen to it in water!

Had the pleasure of serving with a GREAT platoon leader (which means something cuz PL's usually suck)...this was her going away "spanking" from the Korean soldiers...

Woobang Tower in downtown Daegu

Cover is hard to find when you really need it :c)

Shooting/hustling pool is another one of my hobbies...Daegu 9-Ball CHAMPION!!

M249 with just a bit of morning frost

Now this wasn't frost, at least 30 below AND the wind chill was at least another 20...really fricking cold! Fun part was using the bathroom

Korean soldiers "captured" a runaway GI...

Experimenting with night exposures again...and a few tracer rounds...

It's actually sorta fun, except for the bumps...

My patrol vehicle and ME!!

When we do searches, we do a little "credit card swipe" to check those sensitive areas...

And they ARE sensitive...it just CRACKS me up!

Me right before a patrol...

And Woobang Tower again, VERY beautiful at night :c)

Well, that's just a little bit of the ton of stuff I've done since I've been here...ENJOY! Hope to have a "riding" tale SOON :c)

Great pics. Where are you gonna be in SC, Fort Jackson?

Hopefully you'll like it here. There are some great roads in the northwest part of the state (see my "SC Mountain Ride" thread below), and some decent roads around Columbia.

Hey Hugh-

Thanks big time for the tips, I should be picking up my new CityX PDQ after I get to the states, I'd love to break it in on some of those roads and would love to have you show me around town...

I'm going to Jackson for Recruiting School and then hopefully back to the West Coast for Recruiter Duty (time to serve the Army in a different way, i.e. meeting monthly quotas :c)

Oh well...

Jim-

Danka for the compliments...I "had" a ton of awesome pics that I had taken from my entire tour here. I burned em to disc when I got my new comp and something happened, I guess with the buffering?

I don't know, not a techie...long story short, the disc is in a data recovery shop in San Diego and I'm about to get charged a few hundred dollars to get my pics back...sigh...

I'll see what I can do about a machine gun and try to design a mount for Buells...

Whole Lotta Rosies is playin on the 23rd (Wednesday)...which makes it a little tough cuz that's a work day, but I gotta few connections so I'll find a way to make it work...

Egads. . . recruiting duty......er, "we don't have quotas". Believe that and I have soem real estate for ya!

Your red and blue photo reminds me of an ugly incident with some MP's "long ago and far away".

I was in a parked vehicle with Nancy Votipka when were got hassled by 2 jeep loads.

I'm sure, at the time, that Cpl. Neal D. Bradshaw didn't realize that one of my duties and the Congressional and Special Interest Liasion to General Haughton (yes, that's right...Kenneth Haughton) was to fill QSN.

The llok in his beady little eyes when I handed him the orders to Adak was priceless.

Have fun, be safe and come home soon. By the way, the tracer pics are a blast. I was stuck on teh San Onefre range at Camp Pendleton doing night infiltration one night about 2AM. Just as we all come over a ridge an M-50 .50 cal marks the target with tracers and we open fire only to find that the armorer, who was suppesed to have every 5th round loaded as a tracer, had given us boxes of pure 5.56 tracer rounds.

You could kiss that range rifles bye-bye!

Have fun !

"we don't have quotas".

That is an accurate statement...technically

I'm guessin it's also accurate you served in Alaska?? That's the only Adak I can think of...I heard it used to be a decent place to kill a year or two...too bad it closed.

General Haughton? I don't recall reading about him before...What branch did he serve in and what was his command? I'd be very interested to hear about him...

We still get stuck with the 1 per 5 tracer ratio...I'd kill for a box of straight tracers, best part is when they ricochet and come back at ya, scares you a little bit :c)

Take care,

FB2,

Sorry to hear about having to go through the recovery process on you CD's. Technology is great when it works but watch out when it doesn't.

If ya can't come up with a M60, a couple of Humvee's would work too! : )

Hopefully you can make it to see the Rosies, pretty sure a fun time will be had, just make sure you have your camera with ya! Especially if you get the chance to say hello to Trudi.

JC

PS- I have shot a 30rd clip of straight tracers through my Ruger Mini-14 before, its a little fun! : ): ): )
