I rode up Hwy 38 today and at Angelus Oaks I saw a line of Buells.
A couple of Lightnings a Cityx and a couple of Ulys.
Surprized at seeing any motorcycles up there let alone a few Buells I stopped, thinking that the So Cal BRAG/SCAB group was there.
Well It was Harley/Buell treating female motojournalists.
Apparently the bulk of the group were riding to Big Bear however i did talk with Natalie Jackson she was being filmed demoing a Lightning Long.
I met and talked with the Buell and Harley reps and the guys in charge of maintaining the demo fleet. They seemed somewhat interested in my (dinosaur) 97 S3 and had some maintinance suggestions.
The Harley rep (a short, dark haired lady, i forget her name) was very gracious. The Buell rep however nice was more interested in Natalie Jackson than me (cant blame him she is a smokin hot). Anyway thought this might be of interest.

Really cool encounter. It was indeed very interesting. So, what did you talk about with the females moto-journos?

Unfortunatly I did not have a camera with me. Though this is a good case to always carry one with you.
The only journo that i talked with was Mrs. Jackson .
She hasn't been working on American Thunder in quite some time but she does have her own show that's suppose to be airing on a specific cable network in the midwest around the beginning of the year. I think the show is called Moto Maniacs on ESPN2.
Then the conversation shifted to how her husband races SuperMoto. I didn't get his name i was interested in getting her thoughts on the Buell she was riding, the Lightning Long. She seemed to like it well enough but acted kind of unbiased.
I'm not a brand specific rider myself i just ride a Buell. If I could trade it for any bike in the world it would be a Norton 952. Other wise i would like to add a Uly to my stable.

The maintinance guy that i talked with Suggested that i replace the front brake rotor as it is the old style one that was prone to cracks in the carrier. Well, the rotor was replaced at the beginning of the year the the shop that did it insisted that it was the most current replacement part available. What ever. The local dealer network is hit and miss.
I asked him about belt tension as he pointed out that my was way to loose. He told me the only way to do it correctly was to put enough weight on the bike as to align the rear axle with the swingarm pivot to the countershft pulley and adjusting it so that it was taught but not binding. My coment was "ya right" . Realistically you should remove one of the rear shock bolts while holding up the frame to achieve that. Again, what ever, scarry loose is were it will stay until i'm feeling ambitious.
At that point i had to jet. I had plans for dinner with my wife and friends otherwise i would have stayed a while longer.
