You must have been here upon one of your returns Lawrence. Recognise the fabulous Beverley Minster from the Westwood?

This is the largest Norman Church in the UK that isn't a Cathedral.

Kareem, those shots were taken at a Catholic cemetery just off Snake Road. I'd never noticed the statue, set back from the road 500 meters or so, before last night. Don't think it's been there very long.

Great shots, Rocket. Thanks for posting.

If I remember right, I had to make a small donation to take pictures inside the Beverly Minster.

That pub looks inviting. One of these days I'd love to ship a bike to the UK and travel around a while, stopping at places like the Wool Pack Inn.

What's the UK market for Buells like these days, Rocket? Perhaps it'd pay to ship a Buell across, travel around some and then sell it before returning home? I've got an S1 and an S3T I could part with.

What do you think?

Lilies are blooming again in the front garden.

lillies

Rescued this little guy from the road earlier today.

turtle 1

He appeared to be okay and didn't seem to have been hit by any car wheels. Must have had quite a fright, though, was just sitting in the middle of the road all "turtled" into his shell.

turtle 2

Nice colours on his underside.

turtle 3

Pretty shy passenger, though.

turtle 4

The area I found him was dried up after spring flooding with no ponds or marshes in sight, so I put him in the GS/PD's glove compartment and gave him a lift up the road where I found a nice wetland area and left him on a log in the sun surrounded by water. Hope he wasn't a tortoise....

After 9k kms the Avon Gripsters are holding up admirably. I expect they'll go 12k or so. Excellent all round dual sport tire that work great whether sliding around swervie gravel roads or strafing paved twisties. I'd get them again, for sure!

This picture was taken around noon on August 2nd.

R100GS/PD

Sometime around 15:40, while slowing in 2nd gear to approximately 25 km/hr to cross a grossly uneven level crossing in the rain, I apparently locked the rear wheel and low sided to the left then highsided to the right. The bike landed with full force on the right rear bag rack.... and Pelican case.

I landed on my back with the back of my helmet striking the pavement or curb. No one's sure which. Wearing an approved two week old Bell Mag 8 helmet, which saved my life. I received a serious concussion.

The photo gear in the Pelican case was completely unscathed.

Been riding motorcycles since the sixth grade. 350k+ miles. North America, Europe, Asia. That's the first time it's landed me in hospital. My new heroes are nurses and doctors.

My Nikon loves Pelican cases.

EVERYTHING loves Pelikan cases. I had a set of 1550's custom made in the saem Orange you have for the TEAM ELVES Motorola radio gear.

After using them, I've adopted them as my travel luggage. I figure if they're good enough for the military to ship missles in . . . .

Just a quick update with a pic from the Toronto International Motorcycle Show.... Where I only saw one Buell. ('00 S3 being privately sold). Seems this show is up to the dealers and none of the area HD/Buell dealers felt the need. Like HD needs more publicity?!? An enviable position...

Anyhow, here's a nice example of a beautiful bike that brought back a flood of memories for me: '72 Moto-Guzzi 850 Eldorado. I bought the EXact same bike in the fall of '80 when I was 18. Rode it all winter long with some of Craig Vetter's original "Hippo Hands" then moved to Calgary on it in the spring.

It really was a great traveling bike. Built strong and easy to maintain, comfortable seat, handled "on rails" and had a range of 300 miles. That centre stand is a solid forged piece. Mine had a series of peen marks where it used to ground the stand on the rails of a level crossing that bisected a favourite curve.

Like I said: handled "on rails"!

Oh, by the way, Court. I took your advice and sent Andy Goldfine a copy of that pic from our Moose Dodge ride. In response I was stunned to receive a very cordial personal message from the man himself. He said to offer you his well wishes and to thank you for suggesting I share the photo.

Exceptional products and good customer support. Hmmmn, it would appear that he and Mr. Buell have a lot in common, eh?

That's an accurate statement.

Andy Goldfine and Erik Buell could, from a humanistic perspective, be brothers.

Both were cast into the motorcycle industry, not in a quest for fame or fortune, but a passion for doing something they love better than anyone in the world.

Neither has wavered from this path in sprite of the good fortunes of both companies.

They also share a unique ability to draw similarly talented folks as moths would come to a flame.

It's one of the things, even as I have less opportunity to ride, that keeps motorcycling feeling like seeing a sunset over the Grand Canyon.

Wow, time flies. It's been over two years since I've added anything to this photo essay.

Court, thanks for the tip re. the photo for Aerostich. They used it in the cover of their '08 catalogue!

Howdy Badwebbers!

Lotta water under the old Buell bridge since I last posted to this thread. What can be said that hasn't already been said about the Mo. Co.? Too bad, I say.

Anyhow, not much new to report except their filming a tv series episode on our street just now. Lots of nice old cars on hand for the occasion. Packards, Desotos and Cadillacs.

Had the S2's bodywork painted over the winter and it looks fantastic in it's original Snap Red livery. Base-clear over new decals. Will clean up the rest of the bike to suit as time and budget allows. It's going to look great when it's done. A tribute to such a fine machine and the fellow who created it.

Here's another bike project that's ongoing in the garage at the moment. I love these old airheads, and like the S2, this '74 R90/6 is going to be a keeper when it's done.

And I can't leave without sharing some images captured last weekend at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.

Me aulde mate, Rick.

And the Lysander he flies for the museum. He also headed up the restoration team on this aircraft.

Buell on, Badwebbers!
